The video instructions do not match the pattern when speaking about the increases for the saddle shoulders. Video uses different marker numbers for the before and after increases. Pattern BEFORE 2 and 4, Video AFTER 2 and 4. Did not bother completing.

After several trials with needle size and stitch count, I ended up using 3,5 mm needles and 96 stitches. The ribbing part is very wide. Is it supposed to be like that? I would appreciate if you could share circumference of unstretched ribbing tube for every size for reference. Thank you.
04.02.2022 - 00:01DROPS Design answered:
Dear Caroline, we don't have this measurement sorry, but should your tension be right in stocking stitch (= 17 sts = 10 cm with larger needles), then the ribbing edge should like as on the picture keeping same tension. Remember that the rib will tighten piece together, you will have to wait some cm to see how it will look. Happy knitting!

F.eks vil bryststykke i str. L/XL som har 60 masker være ca 35 cm. mvh DROPS design

The numbers for the largest size don’t add up. 118 sts doesn’t reach for 2 times 30 for the shoulders and 2 times 34 for the front and back.

Dear Angelique, thanks for your feedback, pattern has been edited. Happy knitting!

DROPS 219-21 |

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. INCREASE TIP (for saddle-shoulders): BEFORE MARKER: The new stitch twists to the right. Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous round; pick up the back strand and knit in the front loop. AFTER MARKER: The new stitch twists to the left. Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous round; pick up the front strand and knit in the back loop. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, top down. Stitches are increased for the shoulders on each side. Then the piece is divided and the front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth on the needle. NECK: Cast on 96-112-128 stitches with short circular needle size 4.5 mm and Nepal. Work rib in the round (starting on left shoulder), with purl 2, knit 2. Continue this rib for 10 cm, or to desired length. Now insert 4 markers (without working the stitches), The markers are inserted between stitches and are used when increasing for the shoulders. Insert marker 1 at the beginning of the round, count 26-30-34 stitches (= back piece), insert marker 2 before the next stitch, count 22-26-30 stitches (= shoulder), insert marker 3 before the next stitch, count 26-30-34 stitches (= front piece), insert marker 4 before the next stitch. There are 22-26-30 stitches left on the round after marker 4 (= shoulder). Change to circular needle size 5 mm and increase as described below. SADDLE-SHOULDER INCREASES: Work stocking stitch over the 26-30-34 stitches on the front and back pieces and rib as before over the 22-26-30 stitches on each shoulder. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! AT THE SAME TIME increase 4 stitches on each round as follows: Increase BEFORE markers 2 and 4, and AFTER markers 1 and 3 – read INCREASE TIP (= 4 stitches increased on the front and back pieces; the number of stitches on the shoulders remains the same). Increase like this on EVERY round a total of 14-15-15 times = 152-172-188 stitches. On the next round, cast off the shoulder stitches as follows (= starting at marker 1): Purl 5, work stocking stitch over the next 44-50-54 stitches, purl 5, cast off the next 22-26-30 stitches with purl over purl and knit over knit, purl 5, work stocking stitch over the next 44-50-54 stitches, purl 5, cast off the next 22-26-30 stitches with purl over purl and knit over knit. The back and front pieces are finished separately, back and forth on the needle. BACK PIECE: = 54-60-64 stitches. Change to circular needle size 5 mm and work the first row from the right side as follows: 5 edge stitches in GARTER STITCH – read description above, work stocking stitch until there are 5 stitches left and finish with 5 edge stitches in garter stitch. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and 5 edge stitches in garter stitch on each side, until the piece measures 34-35-36 cm from the cast-on edge (measured mid-back). Work 1 row from the wrong side as before and increase, AT THE SAME TIME, 2-0-0 stitches evenly over the stocking stitches = 56-60-64 stitches. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm. Work 5 edge stitches in garter stitch, work rib (knit 2, purl 2) until there are 7 stitches left, knit 2 and finish with 5 edge stitches in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. The piece measures approx. 38-39-40 cm from the cast-on edge mid back. FRONT PIECE: = 54-60-64 stitches. Work in the same way as the back piece. |
