Please ignore my question. After much head scratching I now realise the ‘optical illusion’ and will trust in your instructions to Eva. Cheers

I am every bit as confused as Eva. Does this pattern not start at the bottom of the v-shape, which in your pattern is light beige?…finishing at it’s longest length in off white?
01.08.2024 - 04:50DROPS Design answered:
Dear Chrissie, this shawl is worked from the top down, at the same time, you will increase on each side (casting on 2 sts at the end of every row) to get the width/wingspann and increase in the middle of shawl for the tip/height, so you start with off white and finish with beige. Happy knitting!

I meant if I start with the off-white, it will be a different color pattern than on the picure, won't it?
01.12.2023 - 16:08DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eva, the shawl is worked from the mid center of the upper edge outwards, increasing towards the tips (so the tips in light beige are worked at the end of the piece). So it starts with off white, as seen in the second picture. Later on, you will start working the stripes, alternating betweeen off white and light beige. Happy knitting!

Is the pattern written correctly? In the picture it is different.
01.12.2023 - 10:42DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eva, not sure what you mean here, this shawl is worked top down from the middle of piece, with increasing on each side (new sts cast on at the end of each row) and increasing on each side of the middle stitch (with 1 yarn over) until you reach the finished length (do not forget stripes). Happy knitting!

Dear Kristine, please use out "Find a store" page to find a place that sells our yarns close to you, or stores that ship world wide. You can also look for the yarn itself and use the order now button. Happy Crafting!

Knitted shawl in garter stitch and stripes, worked in DROPS Alpaca Bouclé.
DROPS 178-35 |
|
RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. DOUBLE YARN OVER: Make 2 yarn overs. On the next row, drop the first yarn over, knit the next yarn over (there will be holes!) = 1 stitch increased. STRIPES: Change colour on row from the right side. Work stripes as follows: * knit 2 rows with light beige, knit 2 rows with off white *, repeat from *-* upwards. ---------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: The piece is worked back and forth in garter stitch and with circular needle. All measurements are taken along the mid-stitch on the shawl. Cast on 5 stitches with circular needle size 9 mm and off white. Work as follows: NOTE: Knit all stitches and yarn overs! ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 2, make 1 DOUBLE YARN OVER – see description above, knit 1 (= mid-stitch), make 1 double yarn over, knit 2, cast on 2 new stitches at the end of the row = 9 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle stitch. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit all stitches, cast on 2 new stitches at the end of the row = 2 stitches increased. ROW 3: Knit to the mid-stitch, make 1 double yarn over, knit 1 (= mid-stitch), make 1 double yarn over, knit the remaining stitches, cast on 2 new stitches at the end of the row = 4 stitches increased. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Repeat rows 2 and 3 until finished length. When the piece measures 21 cm work STRIPES – see description above. When the piece measures approx. 35 cm – adjust so that you have worked 2 rows off white, continue working with light beige. Cast off loosely with double strand when the piece measures approx. 40 cm along the mid-stitch. Fasten the threads. |
