The marking thread goes on the 19th stitch for size small but towards the end this falls in the 3 garter stitches at the end. My question i guess is do we do the decrease using any of the 3 garter stitches? Sorry i am not an experienced knitter so i might not be following correctly.
26.02.2017 - 20:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Louise, you have to dec on each side of middle st (= 19th st), after the first 3 dec you will have: 3 sts in garter st, 12 sts, 1 st with marker, 12 sts, 3 sts in garter st = 31 sts. Then you dec 1 st 6 times, so that you will have: 3 sts in garter st, 5 sts, 1 st with marker, 5 sts, 3 sts in garter st. Happy knitting!

I'm STUCK!! PLEASE HELP AS I LOOVE YOUR PATTERN. sincerely, Marlene
16.03.2015 - 00:06DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Braun, you have 47 sts in 5th size and put a marker in the 24th st - then dec a total of 3 times: 1 st before + 1 st after marker (= 2 dec) every 6th row (= 1 row with dec, 5 rows without dec), 47 - a total of 6 sts dec = 41 sts. Happy knitting!

DROPS 110-13 |
|
Decreasing tip: All dec made from RS. Dec as follows before st with MT: K2 tog. Dec as follows after st with MT: slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. Increasing tip: All inc made from WS. Inc 1 st by making 1 YO. On return row work YO into back of loop to avoid a hole. Tassel tip: For the tassels to hang nicely, wet, shake and dry them before attaching them to shawl. Poncho: Worked back and forth on needle in 2 parts, sewn tog afterwards with seams mid back and mid front. Part 1: Cast on 37-39-41-43-47-51 sts on needle size 20 mm with 2 threads Snow or 1 strand Polaris. K 2 rows and continue in stocking st (row 1 = WS) with 3 garter sts each side. Remember the knitting tension! After 7 rows insert a Marking Thread (MT) in st no 19-20-21-22-24-26. On next row dec 1 st on both sides of st with MT – see Decreasing tip – on every 6-6-6-6-6-8 row a total of 3 times. After all dec are complete there are 31-33-35-37-41-45 sts on row. Continue until piece measures 32-34-34-35-34-37 cm. Now dec 1 st on both sides of MT on every other row a total of 7-7-8-8-9-9 times = 17-19-19-21-23-27 sts. On next row from RS work all sts tog 2 by 2 = 9-10-10-11-12-14 sts. K 1 row from WS. Piece now measures approx 52-54-57-58-60-63 cm. Slip sts on a stitch holder. Part 2: Like part 1. Assembly: Sew the 2 pieces tog, edge to edge with neat sts. On the back piece sew tog to sts on stitch holder, on the front piece leave approx 20 cm for split mid front. Hood: Worked back and forth on needle from split mid front. Slip all sts from stitch holders back on needle = 18-20-20-22-24-28 sts. K 1 row from RS, at the same time dec 0-0-0-2-2-6 sts evenly (do not dec on the 3 garter sts each side) = 18-20-20-20-22-22 sts. K 1 row from WS and continue in stocking st with 3 garter sts each side towards mid front, at the same time inc 10-8-8-10-8-10 sts evenly on first row – see Increasing tip (do not inc on the 3 garter sts each side) = 28-28-28-30-30-32 sts. When piece measures approx 36 cm cast off loosely. Assembly: Sew hood tog at top. Ribbon: Cut 2 threads measuring 400 cm each. Twist them until they resist, fold them double and let them twist again. Tie a knot each end. Pull ribbon through sts on neckline with the 2 ends hanging on either side of split at front. Pompom: Make 2 pompoms with a diameter of approx 12 cm. Place the end of the ribbon inside the pompom before cutting the pompom. Tassels: 1 tassel = 2 threads Snow measuring approx 20 cm each. Fold threads double, pull loop through sts along cast-on row and pull ends through loop. Insert 1 tassel in each st round the whole poncho. |
