Hej Kristine.

DROPS Cardigan in Karisma Superwash
DROPS 66-18 |

Gauge: 21 sts x 28 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Rib: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * - *. Pattern: See charts. The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette stitch. Diagrams 1 and 2 are embroidered over Patterns 4 and 5 after knitting. Knitting tip: There are long «floats» in Patterns 4 and 5. To avoid having to carry the yarn so far, it is recommended that you use bobbins. Body: The cardigan is knit in the round on circular needles after the rib with steeks cut for armhole and center front. Cast on 217-241 sts on smaller circular needles with army green mix. Knit Rib - see instructions above - back and forth on needles keeping 1 st in garter st at each side. When the rib measures 4-4 cm change to larger circular needles and knit Pattern 1 - at the same time inc 3 sts at the center front = 220-244 sts (5 sts at center front are for the steek and are not knit in the pattern), join and place a marker at the join. After Pattern 1, knit Pattern 2 a total of 3-4 times, then Pattern 3. After Pattern 3 the piece measures approx. 28-31 cm. Knit the next row as follows: 5 front steeks sts, 4-4 sts olive heather, Pattern 4 (1 repeat), 14-26 sts olive heather, Pattern 5 (4 repeats), 15-27 sts olive heather, Pattern 4 (1 repeat) and 4 sts olive heather. Continue in pattern as established - see knitting tip. When the piece measures 31-33 cm knit the next row as follows (staying in pattern as established): 5 front steek sts, 47-47 sts for the front, bind off 12-24 sts for armhole, 96-96 sts for the back, bind off 13-25 sts for armhole, 47-47 sts for the front. On the next row inc 5 sts over the bound off armhole sts at each side (these sts are for the steek and are not knit in pattern) = 205-205 sts. After Patterns 4 and 5 are complete knit Pattern 6 over all sts. When 17-17 rows remain of Pattern 6 (the piece measures approx. 47-50 cm) bind off the center 22-26 + 5 steek sts for the neck (178-174 sts remain on needles) and knit back and forth on needles. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 2-2 times and 1 st 3-3 times = 164-160 sts. When 2 rows of Pattern 6 remain, bind off 34-38 sts at center back for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each back neck edge on the next row = 63-59 sts each side between front and back neck shaping. After Pattern 6 knit 2 rows with dark olive heather and bind off. The piece measures approx. 53-56 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 48-60 sts on smaller double-pointed needles with army green mix and knit Rib - see instructions above - for 5 cm. Change to larger double pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit Pattern 1. After Pattern 1, begin increasing (see instructions below) and repeat Pattern 2 until piece measures approx. 46-47 cm, then knit Pattern 3. After Pattern 1 inc 1 st each side of marker 22-18 times every 5-6 rows = 92-96 sts - the increased sts are knit in the pattern as you go along. When the piece measures approx. 52-50 cm (8-16 rows remain of Pattern 3) separate piece at marker and knit the rest back and forth on needles. Knit Pattern 3, then 1 row dark olive heather. The piece measures approx. 55-56 cm. Now knit 2-2 cm reverse stockinette st (seam allowance for cut edge on body). Bind off. Assembly: Sew a marker thread in the center of the steek sts on either side and at the center front. Sew two machine seams around the marker thread, 1st seam = 1/2 st from the marker thread, 2nd seam = 1/2 st from first seam. Cut steeks for armholes and at the center front. Sew shoulder seams. Button band: Pick up along right front approx. 111 - 115 sts (divisible by 4 + 3) on smaller circular needles with army green mix. Knit Pattern 7, continue with dark olive heather as follows: 1 row reverse stockinette st (seen from the right side (for folding edge) and 7 rows stockinette st, bind off. Repeat along left front. Fold button bands against wrong side and stitch down. Neck: Pick up around the neck (including over button bands) approx. 105 - 113 sts (divisible by 4+1) on smaller circular needles with army green mix. Knit Pattern 7 with 1 st in garter st at each side (center front). After Pattern 7 continue with dark olive heather as follows: 1 row reverse stockinette st (seen from the right side = the folding edge) and then 7 rows stockinette st, bind off. Fold neckband against wrong side and stitch down. Sew in sleeves and fold seam allowance on sleeve caps over cut edges on body and stitch down. Sew on clasps. Embroidery: Embroider over some of the blossoms of Patterns 4 and 5. Use the following colors for embroidery: burgundy, fuchsia and dark olive. Embroider in the same color as the knit sts in the sweater. See diag. 1 and diag. 2 - every st in the diagram is embroidered over twice. |
