Dear Luba, you cast off the middle 38-56 sts (bottom on back piece) then continue back and forth on one side of piece = from middle on top of piece (= see A in chart) towards the cast off sts decreasing 2 sts at the beg of every row from mid back (from cast off sts) and decreasing 1 st at the beg of every row from the side (from mark-A). Happy knitting!

DROPS shoulder piece in garter st in ”Nepal”. Size S - XXXL.
DROPS 122-42 |

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. -------------------------------------------------------- SHOULDER PIECE: Back piece worked from top down, then cast on new sts for armhole and continue on front and back piece in one, back and forth on needle (row beg mid back). Worked back and forth on circular needle in order to fit in all sts. BACK PIECE: Cast on 54-58-62-66-72-78 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm with Nepal. Insert a marker mid on needle (= mid back) = 27-29-31-33-36-39 sts each side of marker. Work GARTER ST - see above. When piece measures 21-22-23-24-25-26 cm slip sts on a stitch holder (= bottom of back piece). FRONT AND BACK PIECE: Beg by marker at the top of back piece. Pick up 1 st in each of the 27-29-31-33-36-39 sts along cast on row from marker and out towards the side (pick up in outer loop of sts), then cast on 38-40-42-44-45-46 new sts (= armhole), slip the 54-58-62-66-72-78 sts from stitch holder on back piece back on needle, cast on 38-40-42-44-45-46 new sts (= armhole) and pick up 1 st in each of the 27-29-31-33-36-39 sts along cast on row from the side and in towards marker = 184-196-208-220-234-248 sts on needle. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Now insert 6 new markers along neck on back piece (i.e. 3 each side of mid back), insert a marker after 3, 6 and 9 sts from mid back each side. Continue in garter st back and forth on needle from mid back, AT THE SAME TIME at the end of the first 2 rows cast on 1 new st towards mid back (= 2 inc sts). Repeat this inc on every 3 cm a total of 3 times each side. AT THE SAME TIME on row 2 (after sts have been picked up round back piece = RS) inc 1 st after each of the 3 markers at beg of row and before the 3 markers at the end of row (as seen from RS). Inc by making 1 YO on needle, on next row K YO into back of loop to avoid a hole. There are now a total of 6 inc sts by the markers. Repeat the inc on every 8th row a total of 4-4-4-5-5-5 times = 214-226-238-256-270-284 sts. When piece measures 10-10-11-11-12-12 cm (inc mid back are now complete) cast off the middle 38-40-44-46-50-56 sts on needle (= bottom edge mid back) and complete each side separately. Slip sts on one side of piece on a stitch holder and continue on sts on needle as follows: Continue in garter st AT THE SAME TIME dec each side as follows: Dec 2 sts at the beg of every row from mid back. Dec 1 st at the beg of every row from the side. Continue dec like this until all sts have been cast off. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures approx 20-21-23-24-26-27 cm from armhole (measured in the knitting direction) make 1 buttonhole. Place the buttonhole after approx 1/3 of the sts from bottom edge of piece. 1 BUTTONHOLE = cast off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on next row. Make the next buttonhole 4 cm after the first one – NOTE: Place the second buttonhole right over the first one measured in the knitting direction. Slip sts from stitch holder on the opposite side of piece back on needle and work in the same way, but mirrored. NOTE: do not make buttonholes! ASSEMBLY: Sew neckline tog mid back – sew edge to edge in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. Fold neckline towards RS. Sew on buttons. |
