Bon tricot!

I am assuming that the heavy line indicates that is the last stitch? So, I am supposed to repeat right to left ending at the heavy line and working that last stitch at the end of the round. I love this pattern. Thank you so, much.
14.03.2019 - 18:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Colvin, the stitch with the arrow is the stitch that should be in the middle of front on hat, you have then to calculate from this stitch where you will have to start diagram - read more about placing a chart in the middle here. Happy knitting!

Am I right in assuming that on the M.1 chart, 40 p/v = ca 18cm is Norwegian for 40 rows = 18 cm and 12m is 12 stitches?

Dear Mary Jo, you are correct! Happy knitting!

Viel Spass beim Stricken!

You read charts from right to left. The arrow is showing the stitch supposed to be mid front.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. INCREASING TIP: Inc inside outermost st by making 1 YO, on return row work YO in back of loop to avoid a hole. PATTERN: See diagram M.1 – diagram shows 1 pattern repeat. The entire pattern is worked in stocking st. -------------------------------------------------------- EARFLAP: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 7 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with light brown mix. Work GARTER ST – see above – AT THE SAME TIME on row 2 inc 1 st each side – SEE INCREASING TIP. Repeat the inc on every other row a total of 9-10 times = 25-27 sts. Slip sts on a stitch holder. Knit the other earflap. HAT: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 6-8 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with light brown mix, work one earflap in on needle, cast on 23-27 sts, work the other earflap in on needle and cast on 5-7 sts = 84-96 sts. Beg of round = mid back. Change to off-white, K 1 round and P 1 round, change to light brown mix, K 1 round and P 1 round. Now change to circular needle size 5 mm and continue in M.1 (= 7-8 repeats across the round – make sure to have st marked with arrow in diagram mid front). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! After M.1 piece measures approx 20 cm mid front. Insert 12 markers in piece with 7-8 sts between each marker. On next round K2 tog before all markers, and repeat the dec on every other-3rd round a total of 5-6 times = 24 sts left on needle. On next round K2 tog all the way round = 12 sts. Cut the thread, pull it through remaining sts, tighten and fasten. Hat measures approx 24-25 cm mid front. |
