It is Stated that in 10×10 I must have 13 stitches in 23 rows. But if for every row I must increase one stitch, how can I have only 13 in 23? Shouldn't be 28 instead? Thanks for clearing up my doubts!

Hi Giulia, The knitting tension is for 10 cm in width and height. If you add a stitch on a row, the piece will get wider but the knitting tension will remain the same (13 stitches for every 10 cm). Happy knitting!

I'm having the same problem and I Believe beacuse it's missing one step in the description: after having done 30cm, the next first row before starting decreasing must have the same number of stiches of the previous one in order to be simmetric

Devo lavorarlo a diritto ritorto? Grazie.

Buonasera Giulia, a 30 cm deve iniziare a diminuire lavorando 2 maglie insieme all'inizio del ferro. Gli aumenti sono finiti. Buon lavoro!

Thank you for your response. When I decrease I am doing K2to on both sides. Do I have to do right leaning or left leaning decreases? For some reason the shape is more kite shape than square when I decrease. Thanks!
02.06.2023 - 19:32DROPS Design answered:
Dear Shalini, yes, you simply work k2tog on both sides; in garter stitch you won't notice the leaning. The kite shape may be more related to the gauge of your work, especially the difference when increasing and decreasing. Before joining, we recommend you block the squares, to obtain the correct shape and measurements. Happy knitting!

My squares sides are not coming out symmetrical on the decrease. I reach 30 cm and have 12-14 stitches still left over. I side is looking wider than the other ( on the decrease end). Please help! Thanks.
23.05.2023 - 23:50DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Mohindra, after you have increased at the beginning of each row on each side (both from right side and from wrong side), you will decrease 1 stitch at the beginning of each roqw on each side (both from right side and from wrong side). In this video we show how to work a similar blanket, you will just skip the part decreasing on one side + increasing on the other side that is used in the video for the rectangle shape, to get a nice square as for this pattern you will decrease as soon as you have to correct measurements. Happy knitting!

Come posso fare?
Buon lavoro!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. COLOURS: Square 1: Work 2 squares with 1 strand DROPS Fabel sand + 1 strand DROPS Alpaca Bouclé off-white. Square 2: Work 3 squares with 1 strand DROPS Fabel silver fox + 1 strand DROPS Alpaca Bouclé off-white. Square 3: Work 2 squares with 1 strand DROPS Fabel sand + 1 strand DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk light grey. Square 4: Work 3 squares with 1 strand DROPS Fabel silver fox + 1 strand DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk light grey. Square 5: Work 1 square with 1 strand DROPS Fabel sand + 1 strand DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk light beige. Square 6: Work 1 square with 1 strand DROPS Fabel silver fox + 1 strand DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk light beige. PATTERN: Diagram A.1 shows the position of the squares. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- BLANKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece consists of 12 squares sewn together. Read COLOURS in explanations above. The whole piece is worked in GARTER STITCH – read description above. SQUARE: Cast on 5 stitches with needle size 7 mm and 1 strand DROPS Fabel and 1 strand DROPS Alpaca Bouclé (= 2 strands) or 1 strand DROPS Fabel and 1 strand DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk (= 2 strands). Work garter stitch back and forth AT THE SAME TIME as you increase 1 stitch at the beginning of each row by making 1 yarn over after the first stitch; on the next row knit the yarn over twisted. Repeat the increase until the piece measures 30 cm measured along the one side from the cast-on edge. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue with garter stitch AT THE SAME TIME as you now decrease 1 stitch at the beginning of each row, by knitting the first 2 stitches together. Work until you have 5 stitches left, loosely cast off and fasten the strands. ASSEMBLY: Place the 12 squares as shown in diagram A.1, making sure the garter stitch is in the same direction in all squares. Using DROPS Fabel or DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk, sew the squares together in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch, making sure the seam is not tight. |
