When sewing together, is it best to sew with right sides together? That’s not clear in the video. Thanks
29.08.2025 - 00:10DROPS Design answered:
Dear Karen, yes, you sew with the right sides together, since you want the right side pattern to be visible from the outside. Happy knitting!

Thank you for the videos for the wrong side yo ywist. My work now looks like that in the video but I am still puzzled by the ridges flanking the 2 middle stitches shown in the the model picture. Can you advise on that?
15.08.2023 - 16:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Elizabeth, you increase on either side of the middle 2 stitches in stocking stitch, these 2 stitches will create a "straight" line towards toe, and the increases will be worked on either side of these stitches (as in the other video linked in previous answer where there were 3 sts in the middle, you have here 2 sts in the middle). Hope it can help and hope I didn't misunderstand your question. Happy knitting!

I am struggling with the yo twist. I cannot get the ridges on the same side, they are on opposite sides. I am doing a knit yo twist on the knit side and a purl yo twist on the purl side. I would appreciate some clarification. I thank you for this free pattern and really want them to be correct.

Dear Elizabeth, in this video we show how to increase with a yarn over worked twisted from wrong side; in this other video we show another technique to increase getting the stitches leaning towards the right or the left side. This might inspire you. Happy knitting!

Need help with DROPS 142-38 Pattern no ee-448 Yarn group E. The needle size 4 mm/US 6 seems incorrect for this yarn. The SNOW Uni Color yarn band recommends US size 13, the yarn category E says needles 9- I3. I tried a US6 and US8 the gauge is way off, I have been knitting for years and I am aware everyone knits differently but the recommended needle size for this pattern has me baffled . Thanks for your help.
04.06.2023 - 19:25DROPS Design answered:
Dear Leesa, since slippers need to maintain their shape, you will usually need to work tighter than usual, with a smaller than usual needle. The important thing is that the gauge is correct: 15 pts x 19 rows in stocking stitch = 10 x 10 rows. If the gauge doesn't match, then try with a bigger needle size. Happy knitting!

Merci. Anne

It's a beautiful pattern and I intend to make several pairs :-) My question refers to the part where you say bind off 1 sts at the beginning of next 4 rows ie 2 sts bind off in each side=68 sts(from previous 72sts).If I understood correctly I should bind off 4 rows by 2 sts on each end which means 8 sts? If that's the case final sts number wouldn't be 68 but 64? Thank you in advance
15.10.2018 - 15:22DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Filipovska, you will bind off 1 st on each side 2 times = 2 sts will be bound off on each side = a total of 4 sts will be bound off - in the 2nd size there were 72 sts - 4 sts = 68 sts remain. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS slippers in "Snow". Size 35 – 43.
DROPS 142-38 |

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st on each side of the middle 2 sts by making 1 YO, on next row work the YOs twisted to avoid holes. -------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER: Worked back and forth on needle from mid back, beg at the top and work downwards. Cast on 40-44-48 sts on needle size 4 mm with Snow. Work 8 rows in garter st over all sts. Insert a marker in middle of piece. Continue in stocking st but work first and last st in garter st – AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row in stocking st, inc 1 st on each side of the middle 2 sts - SEE INCREASE TIP. Repeat inc every row (i.e. from both RS and WS) a total of 13-14-16 times = 66-72-80 sts. Work 1 row after last inc. Now piece measures approx. 11-11-12 cm. Continue in garter st over all sts - at the same time after 6 rows in garter st, cast off 1 st at beg of the next 4 rows (i.e. 2 sts cast off in each side) = 62-68-76 sts. When a total of 10 rows in garter st have been worked, loosely cast off. ASSEMBLY: Sew seam under foot and up along mid back - sew edge to edge to avoid a chunky seam to walk on. Knit another slipper. |
