Knitted long jumper in DROPS Air. The piece is worked top down with raglan, 2-coloured English rib and cables. Sizes S – XXXL.
DROPS 206-28 |
|
------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- 2-COLOURED ENGLISH RIB (= worked in the round): When working 2-coloured English rib in the round, work 1 round with beige then 1 round with red brick. Change colour each round through-out the piece. If you become unsure about which colour to use, you can see the colour of the previous round by looking at the yarn overs. RAGLAN: All increases to raglan are worked on rounds of beige. There are 8 markers and you increase 2 stitches at each marker (= 16 stitches increased on the round). Increase every 12th-12th-10th-10th-10th-8th round a total of 8-9-10-11-12-14 times. INCREASE 2 STITCHES: Work as follows at each marker: * Knit the yarn over and stitch together without slipping them off the left needle, make 1 yarn over, knit the yarn over and stitch together 1 more time. Now you can slip the yarn over and stitch off the left needle (= 2 stitches increased). On the next round work the increased stitches into the English rib pattern. MOVING THE MARKERS: It is important that the increases to raglan are in the correct stitches; the markers are therefore moved up as you increase. After each increase, the stitches with markers have increased to 3 stitches and the marker is moved to one of these 3 stitches as follows: Marker 1 – insert the marker in the first of the 3 stitches. Marker 2 – insert the marker in the third of the 3 stitches. Marker 3 – insert the marker in the first of the 3 stitches. Marker 4 – insert the marker in the third of the 3 stitches. Marker 5 – insert the marker in the first of the 3 stitches. Marker 6 – insert the marker in the third of the 3 stitches. Marker 7 – insert the marker in the first of the 3 stitches. Marker 8 – insert the marker in the third of the 3 stitches. LEFT AND RIGHT CABLE: The cables begin after round 13 of English rib (i.e. round 7 with beige), then the cables are continued every 28th round of English rib (i.e. every 14th round with beige). The cables are worked between markers 2 and 3, between markers 4 and 5, between markers 6 and 7 and between markers 8 and 1. Work LEFT CABLE as follows: Place the first 6 stitches (first stitch is in red brick) + the 3 yarn overs that belong to them (= 3 English rib stitches in beige) on the cable needle in front of the piece, * make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl, knit the next stitch and yarn over together *, work from *-* a total of 3 times (= 6 stitches + the 3 yarn overs that belong to them). Work the 6 stitches from the cable needle as follows: ((make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl, knit the next stitch and yarn over together)), work from ((-)) a total of 3 times. Finish with 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to knit. Work RIGHT CABLE as follows: Make 1 yarn over and slip the first stitch, place the next 6 stitches (first stitch is in beige) + the 3 yarn overs that belong to them (= 3 English rib stitches in beige) on the cable needle behind the piece, * knit the next stitch and yarn over together, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl *, work from *-* a total of 3 times (6 stitches + the 3 yarn overs that belong to them), Work the 6 stitches from the cable needle as follows: ((knit the next stitch and yarn over together, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl )), work from ((-)) a total of 3 times (= 6 stitches + the 3 yarn overs that belong to them). DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): All decreases are worked on rounds with beige. Decrease 4 stitches as follows: Work as before until there are 2 stitches left before the knitted stitch with marker, work the next 5 stitches together as follows: Slip 1 yarn over, 1 knitted stitch, 1 purled stitch, 1 yarn over, 1 knitted stitch (= stitch with marker) (= 3 stitches and 2 yarn overs) as if to knit together, knit together 1 purled stitch, 1 yarn over, 1 knitted stitch (= 2 stitches 1 yarn over), pass the 3 slipped stitches and 2 yarn-overs over the knitted together stitches (= 4 stitches decreased) ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, top down. The whole piece is worked in 2-coloured English rib, You increase to raglan and work cables in the transitions between body and sleeves. After the piece is divided for body and sleeves the body is continued in the round with circular needle and the sleeves in the round with short circular needle or double pointed needles. YOKE: Cast on 62-64-67-71-74-78 stitches with short circular needle size 6 mm and beige. Work 2 rounds stocking stitch but on the second round increase 14-12-13-9-10-6 stitches evenly spaced = 76-76-80-80-84-84 stitches. Change to circular needle size 7 mm. Insert 1 marker thread here; to be used when measuring later. On the next round insert 8 markers AT THE SAME TIME as you work 2-COLOURED ENGLISH RIB – read description above. ROUND 1 (= with beige): BACK PIECE: Knit 1 and insert marker 1 in this stitch, * make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl, knit 1 *, work from *-* a total of 2-2-3-3-4-4 times, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl. Knit 1 and insert marker 2 in this stitch. CABLE (= the left cable is worked here later): Work from *-* 6 times, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl = 13 stitches. SLEEVE: Knit 1 and insert marker 3 in this stitch. Work from *-* 1 time, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl. Knit 1 and insert marker 4 in this stitch. CABLE (= the right cable is worked here later): Work from *-* 6 times, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl = 13 stitches. FRONT PIECE: Knit 1 and insert marker 5 in this stitch. Work from *-* a total of 2-2-3-3-4-4 times, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl. Knit 1 and insert marker 6 in this stitch. CABLE (= the left cable is worked here later): Work from *-* 6 times, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl = 13 stitches. SLEEVE: Knit 1 and insert marker 7 in this stitch. Work from *-* 1 time, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl. Knit 1 and insert marker 8 in this stitch. CABLE (= the right cable is worked here later): Work from *-* 6 times, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl = 13 stitches. ROUND 2 (= with red brick): * Make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl, purl the next stitch and yarn over together *, work from *-* to end of round. ROUND 3 (= with beige): * Knit the next stitch and yarn over together, make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl *, work from *-* to end of round. ROUND 4 (= with red brick): Work as ROUND 2. ROUND 5 (= with beige): On this round you start to increase to RAGLAN – read description above. Work as ROUND 3, but in all the stitches with markers INCREASE 2 STITCHES - read description above. There are 8 markers and you increase a total of 16 stitches on the round = 92-92-96-96-100-100 stitches on the needle. ROUND 6 (= with red brick): Work as ROUND 2, but the stitches with markers are now 3 stitches. These 3 stitches are worked into the English rib as follows: Make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl, purl 1 (= yarn over from previous round), make 1 yarn over and slip the next stitch as if to purl. ROUND 7 (= with beige): Work as ROUND 3. ROUND 8 (= with red brick): Work as ROUND 2. ROUND 9 (= with beige): Work as ROUND 3. ROUND 10 (= with red brick): Work as ROUND 2. ROUND 11 (= with beige): Work as ROUND 3. ROUND 12 (= with red brick): Work as ROUND 2. Read MOVING THE MARKERS in explanations above and move the markers now. ROUND 13 (= 7th round with beige): This round is worked as ROUND 3, but on this round start the cables – read RIGHT AND LEFT CABLE in explanations above and work as follows: Work as before as far as the stitch with marker 2, work LEFT CABLE over the next 13 stitches. Work as before as far as the stitch with marker 4, work RIGHT CABLE over the next 13 stitches. Work as before as far as the stitch with marker 6, work LEFT CABLE over the next 13 stitches. Work as before as far as the stitch with marker 8, work RIGHT CABLE over the last 13 stitches. Repeat rounds 2 and 3, AT THE SAME TIME as increasing to raglan every 12th-12th-10th-10th-10th-10th round (in the same way as on round 6) and working the cables every 28th round (in the same way as on round 13). When all the increases to raglan are finished there are 204-220-240-256-276-308 stitches on the needle. Continue as before until the piece measures 31-33-34-36-38-40 cm from the marker thread in the neck – adjust so you are not working cables on the next round. Now divide the piece for body and sleeves as follows: Work as before, from the stitch with marker 1 to and including the stitch with marker 3, place the next 37-41-45-49-53-61 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 7-7-7-7-7-7 new stitches (= under the sleeve), work as before from the stitch with marker 4 to and including the stitch with marker 7, place the next 37-41-45-49-53-61 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 7-7-7-7-7-7 new stitches (= under the sleeve), work as before from the stitch with marker 8 and as far as the stitch with marker 1. BODY: There are 144-152-164-172-184-200 stitches on the round. On the next round work the new stitches under each sleeve into the English rib pattern. Continue working as before and work until you have cabled a total of 7-7-7-7-7-7 times from the beginning of the piece. Now continue with English rib over all stitches until the piece measures approx. 36-37-39-40-41-41 cm from the division; adjust so the next round is worked with beige. To avoid the edge being tight, cast off with knit as follows: * Cast off the yarn over that belongs to the next stitch, cast off the next 2 stitches separately *, repeat from *-* to end of round. Cut and fasten the strands. SLEEVE: Place the 37-41-45-49-53-61 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle or double pointed needles size 7 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 7-7-7-7-7-7 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 44-48-52-56-60-68 stitches. On the next round work the new stitches into the English rib pattern and insert 1 marker in the middle stitch of these new stitches (= knitted stitch in beige; allow the marker to follow this middle stitch onwards). Work as before until the sleeve measures approx. 2-2-2-2-2-2 cm from where the piece was divided – adjust so the next round is worked with beige. Read DECREASE TIP in explanations above and decrease 4 stitches mid under sleeve. Repeat this decrease every 8th round (i.e. every 4th round with beige) a total of 4-5-6-6-7-9 times = 28-28-28-32-32-32 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 34-32-32-30-29-27 cm from the division (make sure you measure down the middle of the sleeve and not along where you decrease to avoid the measurements being wrong). Adjust so the next round is worked with beige. To avoid the edge being tight, cast off with knit as follows: * Cast off the yarn over that belongs to the next stitch, cast off the next 2 stitches separately *, repeat from *-* to end of round. Cut and fasten the strands. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
