I read through the pattern before starting to make sure I understood everything and felt like I did. Now that I'm about 20 rows in I do have a question. If I follow the pattern as written and the drawing I do not see where there will be a neck hole and the open front. I'm supposed to sew A to A, and B to B leaving the opening for the hand, then C to C and D to D again leaving an opening for the hand. Where is the neck opening and open front? Thank you for your help.
05.01.2015 - 22:54DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dewane, the seams B/B and D/D are under arms, A/A and C/C are side seams, the whole opening for the bolero will be the wave edge in the chart, ie cast on row + cast off row. Happy knitting!

A und A aneinandernähen müssen.

Are you able to advise the approximate finished length of the S/M from the neck to the hem. I have just cast on for the sleeves and it looks as if it is going to be short, although on the picture it does not. Many thanks
13.12.2014 - 18:36DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Williams, in first size (XS/S) you should have 31 cm from cast on row to sts cast on for sleeve and in size M/L, 32 cm - seam will be under sleeve - total lenght will be somewhat shorter than the full length because of collar (see picture). Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS jacket with wave pattern in ”Brushed Alpaca Silk”. Size: XS - XXL.
DROPS 156-10 |
||||||||||||||||
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS. ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET: Worked back and forth on circular needle to make room for all the sts. Place circular needle double (or use another needle in approx. the same size in addition to circular needle size 6 mm) and cast on 147-176-205 sts (incl edge st) over the double needle with Brushed Alpaca Silk. This is done to make the cast-on edge elastic. Pull out one needle and work 1 ridge in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Now work A.1A with 1 edge st in garter st in each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1A has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 87-104-121 sts remain on needle and piece measures approx. 24 cm. Continue with A.1B with 1 edge st in each side until piece measures 31-32-33 cm. Now cast on 56-53-53 sts in each side of sleeve - cast on over 2 needles the same way as at the bottom of body = 199-210-227 sts. Continue A1B as before but work the outermost 23-20-20 sts in each side in garter st. When piece measures 44-47-50 cm, insert 1 marker - NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! When piece measures 13-15-17 cm - adjust so that next row is 1st row in A.1B – LOOSELY cast off the outermost 56-53-53 sts in each side (it is very important to have a loose cast off to avoid a tight seam under sleeves) = 87-104-121 sts on needle. Continue A.1B with 1 edge st in garter st in each side until piece measures 17-20-23 cm from marker. Then work A.2 with 1 edge st in each side. After A.2 there are 147-176-205 sts on needle. Work 1 ridge and LOOSELY cast off after last pattern row in A.2, piece should measure the same on each side of marker. ASSEMBLY: Sew edge A and A - see chart - tog inside 1 edge st. Sew B and B tog. The remaining opening is armhole. Repeat the same way with edge C and D on the other side. |
