If knitting the domino, which I have done with the Exton cushion cover, how can I link the squares and still have the black edging? I’d rather not have to sew all the squares individually. Thank you - Jude

Dear Jude, you might then work the dominos in "rows", for example as shown here - but you will then have to knit the black edge instead of crochet it, ie work a couple of rows with black at the end of each square. Happy knitting!

Takk for hjelpen.

DANKE in Voraus Sabine
18.02.2014 - 14:11DROPS Design answered:

Hej igen.

Knitted DROPS blanket with domino squares in "Delight".
DROPS 132-33 |

|
DOMINO SQUARE: Insert 1 marker in the middle st. Row 1 (= WS): K all sts. Row 2 (= RS): K until 1 st remains before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K rest of row. Repeat 1st and 2nd row, i.e. dec 2 st in the middle of the square on every other row until 1 st remains, cut the thread and pull it through remaining st. 1 Domino square should measure approx. 16 x 16 cm without crochet border. TIP FOR SWITCHING THREADS: To make the colour transitions in Delight pretty when switching ball, it is important to find a ball that starts with the same colour last ball ended with. --------------------------------------------------------- BLANKET: Cast on 73 sts with Alpaca on needle size 3.5 mm. Work DOMINO SQUARE - see explanation above - switch to Delight after 2nd row. Work 40 domino squares - read TIP FOR SWITCHING THREADS. ASSEMBLY: Place the squares with 5 squares in breadth and 8 squares in height. Sew squares tog with small stitches in front loop of outermost st to avoid a chunky seam. CROCHET BORDER: Use hook size 3.5 mm and Alpaca. Work 1 row with tr along one short side and one long side so that the entire blanket has a black edge. |
