Hi! I'm about to knit the hat, and I don't understand the difference between the two different methods of knitting over the yarn over. The first says to knit the yarn over twisted to avoid a hole. The 2nd method says to slip yarn over to the right needle knitwise, slip it back and then knit it. Isn't that essentially the same thing? Thank you!

Dear Linda, in this video we show (for raglan increases) how to work the yarn overs just as explained for the hat, it should help you. Happy knitting!

Hi! What does mean "knit from wrong side" (written in the explanation of the diagram). How should I do this, if I want to make this hat in rounds? Thanks in advance for your answer :)

Dear Anna, this stitch should be purled with light grey, thanks for noticing. A correction will come, happy knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles, top down. Switch to circular needle when increasing. HAT: Cast on 10 stitches on double pointed needles size 7 mm with DROPS Andes in colour light grey. Work A.1 over all stitches. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 60 stitches on row. Work in stocking stitch with light grey. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the hat measures 18 cm, knit 1 round and increase 8 stitches evenly = 68 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1/purl 1). When rib measures 15 cm, switch to colour orange and work 1 round with knit over knit and purl over purl. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. ASSEMBLY: Baste a thread with colour light grey up and down through the 10 stitches at the top of hat, tighten together and fasten. Make a pompom in colour orange with an approx. diameter of 9 cm and fasten it at the top of the hat. Fold 9 cm at the bottom upwards. |
