How to work treble crochet and get a straight line running down the beginning/ending of the rounds

In this DROPS video we show how to get a straight line running down the beginning/the end of the rounds. Work in the round alternately from the right and wrong side, turning the piece after each round.
It you work round and round from the right side; the line at the beginning of the round is then slightly diagonal (see the sample patch on the right at the beginning of the video).

We also work the piece in stripes and to get a neat transition when changing colours, we work the slip stitch at the end of the round in the new colour.

Each round of treble crochets begins with 3 chain stitches which do not replace the first treble crochet. The rounds finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round.

Bonjour Mme Roger, effectivement, on va procéder de la même façon car ce snood se crochète en rond, mais alternativement sur l'endroit et sur l'envers. Bon crochet!

When you are crocheting sc's/dc's in the round you begin each round with 1 ch that replaces the first sc/dc on this next round. To mark the beginning it is a good idea to use a scrap yarn to mark the 1st stitch on the round. Finish each round with 1 sl st in the chain from beg of round. Make sure to not work the sc that the ch was made in! Keep moving the marking thread for each round. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. The stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows (the heel extends under the foot): 1) The heel is worked back and forth across the heel-stitches to achieve the correct height. For this type of heel, the length reaches midway under the heel. 2) Next, the heel is knitted together beneath the foot. 3) The sock is then continued in the round, with stitches picked up along both sides of the heel length, working towards the toe. 4) This heel creates a square shape, which is why this type of heel is known as a square heel.
