How to work a Pepita pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to work a Pepita pattern with 2 garter stitches on each side. The pattern in this video is worked over 5 stitches, we work 20 stitches + 2 garter stitches (= knit on each row) in each side (= 24 stitches). You can also work this pattern over fewer / more stitches and after chart/charts, as it is done for example in the jacket in DROPS 206-21. In the video we show 4 rows with light gray and then 2 rows with gray.

ROW 1: Work 2 garter stitches, * Knit 2, slip the stitch as if to purl, make sure the strand you are using is on the wrong side (away from you seen from the right side), knit 2 *, repeat * - * the entire row and finish with 2 garter stitches.

ROW 2: Work 2 garter stitches, * Knit 2, slip the stitch as if to purl, make sure the strand you are using is on the wrong side (towards you seen from the wrong side), knit 2 *, repeat the * - * row out and finish with 2 garter stitches.

ROW 3: Repeat 1st row.
ROW 4: Repeat 2nd row.

Change color and repeat ROW 1 – ROW 4, but now the pattern is shifted, so that 1 stitch is worked more before lifting over 1 stitch.

We use the yarn DROPS Eskimo, but the little sample in black/ white is worked in DROPS Big Merino.

You also need to read a pattern with this technique and look at chart/charts as well as watch the video. You can find a pattern using this technique by clicking on one of the pictures below.
