(Viscose sags, be aware of this when measuring piece! Uneven stitches will usually even out after washing.)

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in British English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inches - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in American English, please click here.
Knitting tension: 18 stitches x 29 rows with needle size 4.5 mm and moss stitch = 10 x 10 cm. Remember needle size is only a guide! 

Moss stitch: * Row 1: K1, P1. Row 2: Knit over purl and purl over knit *. Repeat row 2. 

Ridge/Garter stitch (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows.
Ridge/Garter stitch (with circular needle): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round.

Buttonhole: When piece measures 1 (1-1) cm, 8.5 (9-9) cm, 16 (16.5-17) cm, 23.5 (24-25) cm and 31 (32-33) cm work buttonholes on right front piece as follows: Cast off 3rd and 4th stitch and cast on 2 new stitches over the cast-off stitches on next row.

Body: The jacket is worked back and forth with circular needle. Cast on 190 (198-206) stitches (incl. 2 x 5 band stitches) with circular needle size 3.5 mm and 1 strand khaki green and 1 strand mustard (= double yarn) and work 2 ridges. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work moss stitch upwards with 5 stitches in garter stitch in each side towards mid front (=band). Remember to work buttonholes in right front piece (see description above). Remember the knitting tension. When piece measures 29 (29-30) cm work next row as follows: 48 (50-52) stitches front piece, cast off 4 stitches for armhole, 86 (90-94) stitches back piece, cast off 4 stitches for armhole, 48 (50-52) stitches front piece. 

Front piece: = 48 (50-52) stitches. Continue to cast off for armhole every 2nd row: 2 stitches x 2 (2-3), 1 stitch x 1 (2-1) = 43 (44-45) stitches. When piece measures 32 (33-34) place 5 stitches in each side towards mid front (=bands) on a thread and then cast off for neck every 2nd row: 1 stitch x 4 (5-5), every 4th row: 1 stitch x 7, every 6th row: 1 stitch x 2. Cast off when piece measures 53 (54-55) cm.

Back piece: = 86 (90-94) stitches. Continue to cast off for armholes as for front piece = 76 (78-80) stitches. When piece measures 51 (52-53) cm cast off the middle 22 (24-24) stitches for neck. Then cast off 2 stitches in each side on next row towards neck. Cast off when piece measures 53 (54-55) cm. 

Sleeve: Cast on 42 (44-44) stitches with double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and 1 strand khaki green and 1 strand mustard (= double yarn) and work garter stitch for 8 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and work moss stitch upwards to finished length. At the same time, after the garter stitch, increase mid under sleeve: 2 stitches x 21 (22-22) for S: Every 5th round, M+L: Alternately every 4th and 5th round = 84 (88-88) stitches. When piece measures 46 (45-46) cm cast off 4 stitches mid under sleeve and finish working back and forth on needle. Continue to cast off for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 stitches x 3, 2 stitches x 5 (6-6), 3 stitches x 3, cast off. Piece measures approx. 54 (54-55) cm. 

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Knit up approx. 110-120 stitches around neck (incl. stitches on threads) with circular needle size 3.5 mm and 1 strand khaki green and 1 strand mustard (= double yarn) and work 1 ridge. Cast off. Crochet edge: Crochet with 2 strands mustard from right side and hook size 4 mm as follows: 1 row of double crochets around garter stitch edge at bottom of body, up along bands and around neck divided as follows: 120-130 double crochets around bottom of body, 40-50 along each band, 65-75 double crochets around neck. Then work a row of double crochets in opposite direction, i.e. from left to right without turning piece (= lobster stitch). Work double crochets from right side in each double crochet from previous row. Repeat both rows around bottom of sleeves with 30-35 double crochets. Sew in sleeves and sew on buttons.
