Gauge: 10 sts x 18 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm.

Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl *. Repeat from * - *.

Buttonholes: Bind off the 3rd and 4th sts on the right front for buttonholes and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row when the work measures:
3 cm
10.5 (11-11.5) cm
18 (19-20) cm
25.5 (27-28.5) cm
33 (35-37) cm and
40.5 (43-45.5) cm

Left Front: Cast on 26 (27-28) sts and knit 2 rows garter st. Change to stockinette st over all sts, but knit the 4 sts at the center front (front edge) in garter st throughout. Inc 1 st at the side when the work measures: 7 (7-8) cm, 14 (14-15) cm and 21 (22-23) cm = 29 (30-31) sts.
When the work measures 28 (30-31) cm bind off for armhole every other row: 3 sts 1 (1-1) time, 2 sts 1 (2-2) times, 1 st 2 (1-1) times = 22 (22-23) sts.
When the work measures 44 (46-48) cm put 6 sts on a st holder for the neck. Bind off for the neck (inside the sts on the holder) every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 1 (1-2) times. Bind off when the work measures 52 (54-56) cm.

Right Front: Cast on and knit like the left but reverse all shaping and make buttonholes (as above).

Back: Cast on 48 (50-52) sts and knit 2 rows garter st, then stockinette st. Inc on each side as on the front = 54 (56-58) sts. When the work measures 28 (30-31) cm bind off for armholes as on the front = 40 (40-42) sts. When the work measures 52 (54-56) cm put the center 18 (18-20) sts on a st holder. Bind off the remaining sts.

Sleeve: Cast on 28 (28-30) sts with 2 strands of yarn. Change to 1 strand, knit 2 rows garter st, then stockinette st. When the work measures 8 cm inc 1 st on each side 8 times every 4.5 cm = 44 (44-46) sts. When the work measures 46 (46-47) cm bind off on each side for sleeve cap every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 3 times, 2 sts 2 times, then 3 sts on each side until the work measures 56 (57-58) cm, bind off.

Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 50-54 sts around the neck including the sts from the st holder. Knit 3 cm garter st, make a buttonhole on the right side of the collar (see instructions above), knit garter st until the collar measures 5 cm, bind off loosely - bind off with double yarn if necessary so that the bind off row is not too tight. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the sleeve- and side seam in one. Sew on the buttons.
