DROPS CROCHET HOOK SIZE 4.5 mm – or size needed to get 16 treble crochets = width 10 cm. Pattern A.1b measures approx. 2.3 cm in width.

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1.

STOLE:
Worked back and forth in 2 parts. Work from the middle of stole and out towards the side.

FIRST HALF:
Work 79 chain stitches on hook size 4.5 mm with Merino Extra Fine. Work A.1a over the first 6 chain stitches, A.1b over the next 72 chain stitches (= 12 times in width) and A.1c over the last chain stitch. Then repeat A.1 vertically - REMEMBER CROCHET TENSION. Continue like this until piece measures approx. 70 cm - finish after first row. Fasten off.

SECOND HALF:
Work in chain stitches at beginning of first part. Work the same way as first half with start from the first row.

= double treble crochet in stitch
= row has already been worked, begin on next row!

This shawl reminds me of those lacey cookies that are so fragile to make. Sometimes they are made into Florentines or rolled into Cannoli. The stitch is also so fragile and feminine. I have suggested the name of Cookies and Lace.
