Pattern instructions

Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS and the entire pattern is worked in stocking st.
M.2: 2 rows blue, 4 rows grey, 2 rows blue.
Rib: *K1 into back of loop, P1*, repeat from *-*.

Body: The jumper is worked in the round on circular needle and cut for armholes afterwards. Numbers in ( ) refer to men’s sizes. Cast on 172-176-184 (190-200) sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with blue and work 6 cm Rib, but after 2 rounds change to grey. After the rib change to circular needle size 4 mm and continue in stocking st, at the same time inc 52-64-72 (58-64) sts evenly on first round = 224-240-256 (248-264) sts. Change to blue, work 2 rounds, and then 1 round grey. Now continue in M.1. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 30-32-31 (35-36) cm inc 5 sts each side (to be cut for armhole afterwards and not included in pattern). When piece measures 54-56-56 (58-60) cm cast off 48-48-50 (50-52) sts mid front for neck and complete piece back and forth on needle. At the same time when 3 cm remain before finished measurements (adjust to a full pattern repeat of M.1) work M.2 (see above), and at the same time when piece measures 58-60-60 (62-64) cm cast off the middle 48-48-50 (50-52) sts for neck on back piece. Cast off remaining sts after M.2, piece measures approx 60-62-62 (64-66) cm.
Sleeve: Cast on 40-42-44 (46-50) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with blue and work 5 cm Rib, but after 2 rounds change to grey. After the rib change to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work 1 round grey stocking st, at the same time inc 18-16-14 (12-8) sts evenly on round = 58-58-58 (58-58) sts. Now work 2 rounds blue and then continue in M.1. At the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 31-31-33 (30-31) times on every 3rd and 4th round alternately for ladies size S + M, on every 3rd round for ladies size L, on every 4th round for men’s size S/M and on every *4th 4th and 3rd round* alternately for men’s size M/L = 120-120-124 (118-120) sts. When piece measures 50-49-48 (54-53) cm work 5 rounds in reverse stocking st (for sewing sleeve to body piece). Cast off.
Assembly: Insert a marking thread in the middle of the inc sts for armhole. Sew 2 seams on a sewing machine around the marking thread, 1st seam = ½ st from the MT, 2nd seam = ½ st from the 1st seam. Cut for armholes. Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up 144-144-148 (148-152) sts round the neck on circular needle size 2.5 mm with grey as follows: 52-52-54 (54-56) sts on front and back pieces and 20-20-20 (20-20) sts on each shoulder. Work 3 cm rib, at the same time dec at each corner as follows: work round until 3 sts before corner, slip the middle st on cable needle in front of piece, K the 1st and 3rd st tog, psso middle st (= 4 dec sts per round). Repeat the dec on every other round. After 3 cm rib change to blue, work 1 round rib and cast off. Set in sleeves as follows: sew the last row in stocking st on sleeves to row after machine seam on armhole. Turn jumper inside out and fasten piece in reverse stocking st on sleeve to body piece.
