Materials: DROPS Vienna from Garnstudio
100-100 (100-150) g color no 35, navy blue = color 4
100-100 (100-100) g color no 24, purple = color 2
100-150 (150-150) g color no 32, green = color 1
100-100 (100-100) g color no 25, blue = color 3
50-50 (50-50) g color no 46, yellow

DROPS pointed and double pointed needles size 3.5 and 6 mm /US 4 and 10 - or size needed to obtain 13 sts x 16 rows in stockinette st on needle size 6 mm / US 10 = 4'' x 4'' (10 x 10 cm).

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
Pattern: See diagram. The pattern is seen from the RS and the entire pattern is worked in stockinette st.

Pattern back piece: 7 rows purple, 24-26 (24-36) rows green (= approx 15-16 (15-16) cm, 7 rows purple, 24-26 (24-26) rows blue, 7 rows purple, complete piece in green.

Pattern front piece: The diagram shows half the pattern, mirror pattern on the other side of the middle st = 37 pattern sts in total. Work stripes as described for back piece with pattern on the middle 37 sts, but for ladies and men’s size S/M do NOT work the middle 2 rows in green and blue (to match these stripes on back piece).

Pattern sleeve: 7 rows purple, 16.5-15.5 (18.5-18) cm green, 7 rows purple, 16.5-15.5 (18.5-18) cm blue, 7 rows purple.

Rib: * K1, P1*. Repeat from *-*.

Back piece: Worked back and forth on needle. Numbers in ( ) refer to men’s sizes. Cast on 74-78 (78-82) sts on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with navy blue and work 5 cm / 2'' Rib. Change to needle size 6 mm / US 10 and continue in pattern – see above - at the same time inc 1-3 (1-3) sts evenly on first round = 75-81 (79-85) sts. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When 4 rows remain of pattern (piece measures approx 60-63 (60-63) cm) bind off the middle 31-33 (31-33) sts for neck and dec 1 st on neckline on next row. Bind off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 63-66 (63-66) cm.

Front piece: Cast on as described for back piece and work pattern – see above. When 19 rows remain of pattern (piece measures approx 51-54 (51-54) cm) bind off the middle 21 sts for neck and complete each side separately. Bind off towards neckline on every other row: 1 st 6-7 (6-7) times. Bind off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 63-66 (63-66) cm.

Sleeve: Cast on 36-38 (38-40) sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 with navy blue and work 5 cm / 2'' Rib. Change to double pointed needles size 6 mm / US 10 and continue in pattern – see above - at the same time inc 4-4 (2-2) sts evenly on first round = 40-42 (40-42) sts. At the same time after the Rib inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 19 times on every * 3rd and 4th * round alternately for ladies size S/M + M/L and men’s size M/L and on every 4th round for men’s size S/M = 78-80 (78-80) sts. Bind off when sleeve measures 51-49 (55-54) cm.

Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 80 sts round neckline on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with navy blue, but do not pick up on the middle 11 sts mid front. Work 7 cm / 2¾'' rib from mid front, back and forth on needle, bind off. Place the right side of rib over the left side mid front and fasten. Set in sleeves.
