Pattern instructions

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows.
Buttonholes: Make buttonholes on right front band when piece measures 20-20 cm, 32-33 cm, 44-46 cm, 56-59 cm, and 68-72 cm. 1 buttonhole = cast off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on return row.

Left front piece: Cast on 54-59 sts (includes 2 front band sts towards mid front and 1 edge st at the side) on needle size 5 mm with dark grey Alaska and work 4 rows garter st – see above. Continue in stocking st with 2 garter sts towards mid front. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 56-60 cm cast off for armhole at the side on every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1-2 times, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times = 41-43 sts. When piece measures 69-73 cm cast off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from mid front: 8-9 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 4 times = 20-21 sts. Cast off remaining sts when piece measures 80-85 cm.

Right front piece: Like left front piece, but mirrored. Remember buttonholes, see above.

Back piece: Cast on 100-110 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 5 mm with Alaska and work 4 rows garter st. Continue in stocking st. When piece measures 56-60 cm cast off for armhole each side as described for front piece = 74-78 sts. When piece measures 78-73 cm cast off the middle 30-32 sts for neck and complete each side separately. Cast off 2 sts on neckline on next row and cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 80-85 cm

Sleeve: Cast on 70-72 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 2.5 mm with Chenille. Work 4 rows garter st and continue in stocking st. When piece measures 8 cm change to needle size 7 mm and Puddel, at the same time K2 tog across the row = 34-36 sts. P 1 row (folding edge, now measure piece from here) and continue in stocking st. When piece measures 2 cm from folding edge change to needle size 5 mm and Alaska, at the same time inc 24-26 sts evenly on row = 59-62 sts. Continue in stocking st until piece measures 8 cm from folding edge. Now inc 2 sts each side on every 3.5-5 cm a total of 11 times = 81-84 sts. When piece measures approx 44-43-42 cm cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 3 sts 2 times, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 1-2 times, 2 sts 2-4 times, 3 sts 3-2 times. Cast off remaining sts. Sleeve measures approx 56 cm.

Pockets: Cast on 32 sts on needle size 5 mm with dark grey Alaska. Work stocking st with 1 garter st each side. When piece measures 19 cm work 4 rows garter st on all sts and cast off. Crochet a row of dc along the top of pocket with crochet hook size 4 mm and Puddel.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Collar: Pick up approx 94-100 sts on needle size 5 mm with Alaska round neckline. Change to needle size 2.5 mm and Chenille. K1 row, at the same time inc 18 sts evenly on row = 112-118 sts. Continue in stocking st with 2 sts each side towards mid front in garter st. When collar measures 5, 10, 15 and 20 cm inc 15 sts evenly on row = 172-178 sts. When collar measures 28 cm change to needle size 7 mm and Puddel, at the same time K2 tog across the row = 86-89 sts. When collar measures 30 cm P 1 row (folding edge, now measure piece from here). Continue in stocking st with 2 garter sts each side. When collar measures 10 and 15 cm from folding edge dec 8 sts evenly on row, and when collar measures 20 and 25 cm from folding edge dec 7 sts evenly on row = 56-59 sts. Cast off loosely when collar measures 28-30 cm from folding edge. Fold collar towards WS along folding edge and fasten round neckline and collar edge. Set in sleeves and sew side and sleeve seams. Fold sleeve edges towards WS and fasten.
Crochet border: Crochet with double thread Alaska and crochet hook size 4 mm from RS as follows: 1 row of dc along bottom edge and up along front bands. Now crochet a row of dc without turning the piece, i.e. from left to right. Crochet from the RS with 1 dc in each dc. Sew on buttons to fit buttonholes.
