How much yard do I need for this project? What’s the total yardage amount?

Hi Linda, There is approx. 100 yds per 50 g ball of Drops Cotton Light. 250 g of colour light wash in your size will therefore be approx. 500 yds and 100 g off white 200 yds. Happy crocheting!

GRANNY SQUARES: Use crochet hook size 4 mm and DROPS Cotton Light. Read COLOURS and COLOUR CHANGE. Work squares according to diagram A.1, in the different colour combinations. There are different numbers of different squares, depending on the size you are working. Square 1 is a small square for the straps and the bottom edge of the body. Square 2 is a large square for the body in sizes S, M, L and XXL, square 3 is a large square for the body in sizes XL and XXXL. A total of 36-38-53-42-64-53 squares are worked: Square 1: 20-22-23-26-28-26 items Square 2: 16-16-30-0-36-0 items Square 3: 0-0-0-16-0-27 items ASSEMBLY: The large squares are crocheted together to make a rectangle for the top of the body. Lay out the large squares (either square 2 or 3 depending on your size), with 2-2-3-2-3-3 squares in height and 8-8-10-8-12-9 squares in width. Use crochet hook size 4 mm and colour light wash to crochet the squares together, first in width as follows: Lay 2 squares right side to right side. Crochet through both squares from the wrong side as shown in diagram A.2. Lay the next 2 squares right side to right side and continue crocheting together in the same way, until all the large squares are crocheted together in width. Now crochet the strips together vertically in the same way. Work 12-12-15-16-18-18 small squares (square 1) together into a strip which is crocheted to the bottom of the body, see diagram A.3. When the small squares have been crocheted together, crochet the strip to the large squares as follows: S, M, L and XXL: See diagram A.4a, along the full length. 3 small squares fit into 2 large squares. XL and XXXL: See diagram A.4b, along the full length. 2 small squares fit into 1 large square. When all the squares are crocheted together into a large rectangle, crochet the short sides together from the wrong side, in the same way as earlier, to form a tube. Cut and fasten the strands. 2 loose straps are worked, consisting of 4-5-4-5-5-4 small squares crocheted together into a strip, from the wrong side, in the same way as earlier. Lay the top flat, with the seam mid-back. Position the 2 straps on the top edge, 6-6-10-13-14-15 cm in from each side, with approx. 16-16-18-18-20-21 cm between the straps. Sew the straps to the front, then to the back. Try the top on and adjust the number of squares on the straps if necessary. |
