---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work at the end of crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 treble crochet/double crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of every round with treble crochets work 3 chain stitches These chain stitches replace first treble crochet. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round. At the beginning of every row with double crochets work 1 chain stitch. This chain stitch replaces first double crochet. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch at beginning of round. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 treble crochet/double crochet as follows: Work 1 treble crochet/double crochet but wait with last yarn over and pull through (= 2 loops on hook), then work next treble crochet/double crochet but on last pull through, pull thread through all 3 loops on hook = 1 treble crochet/double crochet decreased. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked in the round, from leg down to toe. SOCK: Use hook size 5 mm and 1 strand of each colour in DROPS Fabel and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (3 strands). Work 47-48-51 CHAIN STITCHES and form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch made - read explanation above. ROUND 1: Work 3 chain stitches (= 1 treble crochet), 1 treble crochet in each of the next 1-3-5 chain stitches, * skip 1 chain stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 4 chain stitches *, work from *-* the entire round, and finish with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round = 38-40-42 treble crochets. ROUND 2: 3 chain stitches (= 1 treble crochet), 1 treble crochets in every treble crochet the entire round, finish with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round = 38-40-42 treble crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! Work as 2nd round - AT THE SAME TIME on 8th round decrease 1 treble crochet on each side of the first 3 chain stitches mid back - read DECREASE TIP = 36-38-40 treble crochets. Continue in the round with treble crochets and repeat the decrease again on the 16th round = 34-36-38 treble crochets. Then work 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet until piece measures approx. 21-22-23 cm. Now work heel and foot as explained below. HEEL AND FOOT: Work 1 double crochet in each of the first 16-16-18 treble crochets on round = 16-16-18 heel stitches. Now continue with double crochets back and forth over heel stitches - at the same time decrease 1 double crochet in each side on every row until 8-8-10 double crochets remain - remember DECREASE TIP. Work from wrong side to that next row is from right side. Insert 1 marker in the middle of row - measure piece from this marker later. Now increase/pick up stitches in the sides until 16-16-18 double crochets remain on row as follows: Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet, in addition work 2 new double crochets along the side of heel at the end of row (= 10-10-12 double crochets). Decrease 1 double crochet at the beginning of every row, and work 2 new double crochets along the side of heel at the end of every row. Continue like this until 16-16-18 double crochets remain on row. All rows along the edge have now been worked on heel. Cut the yarn and pull strands through the last stitch on hook. Turn piece (next row is worked from right side). Begin mid under foot and fasten strand with 1 slip stitch in the middle of the 16-16-18 double crochets from heel. Work 1 treble crochet in each of the 8-8-9 heel stitches, work 3 treble crochets in transition between heel stitches and stitches from leg, work treble crochets over the 18-20-20 treble crochets from leg. Work 3 treble crochets between stitches from leg and heel stitches in the other side, and work treble crochets over the remaining 8-8-9 heel stitches = 40-42-44 treble crochets. Insert a marker thread on each side of the 18-20-20 stitches on top of foot. Then work in the round with 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet - at the same time decrease 1 treble crochet in each side as follows: Decrease 1 treble crochet before first marker thread and decrease 1 treble crochet after second marker thread - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every round 7-6-6 times = 26-30-32 treble crochets. Work with 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet until piece measures approx. 18-19-20 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. Approx. 4-5-6 cm remain until finished measurements, try the sock on and work to desired length before decreasing for toes as explained below. TOE: Work 1 round with 1 double crochet in every treble crochet the entire round = 26-30-32 double crochets. Insert 1 marker in a double crochet in each side of sock so that there are 12-14-15 double crochets between stitches with marker both on top of foot and under foot. Then work in the round with double crochets while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing 2 double crochets in each side as follows: Work until 1 double crochet remain before double crochet with marker thread, work 1 double crochet, but wait with last yarn over and pull through (= 2 loops on hook), then work double crochet with marker, but wait with last yarn over and pull through (= 3 loops on hook), work 1 double crochet in next double crochet, and pull last yarn over through all 4 loops on hook. 2 double crochets have been decreased - repeat at next marker. Decrease like on every other round a total of 2-3-4 times in each side and then on every round 1 time in total in each side = 14-14-12 double crochets. On next round work all the double crochets together 2 by 2 = 7-7-6 double crochets. Place sock flat and sew together stitch against stitch. Fasten the strands. The sock measures approx. 22-24-26 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. Work the other sock the same way. |
