Bon tricot!

I appreciate your reply but I still don\'t understand what to do or why I do it. Drops # O-916. Do I add a 'marker' at the corner of the short side of piece? And why do I? And what am I measuring? Also....the 'shoulder piece ' hardly fits around my back & to the front. Was I supposed to knit 2 shoulder pieces and sew them together up the back? Thanks so much for your good reply. Wendy Dawson

Dear Mrs Dawson, insert the marker in the middle of the short piece (= in the middle of the row when picking up stitches for the tie). It will be used to measure the tie from. There should be only 1 piece for "shoulder piece", is your tension correct? You should have 17 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm, so that the 136-153-170 sts should be 80-90-100 cm in width. Ties will be worked along the height, ie along the 43-46-49 cm. Hope it will help. Happy knitting!

Pattern Drops O-916. I have trouble understanding the pattern. Re the 'tie' instructions. What does this mean.....'Insert 1 marker in one short side of piece - NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE!' ???? Why a marker....and what am I measuring. also, Do both edges join to include the 'tie'? There hardly seems enough material to even wrap around me.

Dear Mrs Dawson, you add a marker on the short side of piece, this is where you will measure from (you can also consider measuring from the stitches picked up). Then pick up sts along the short side and decrease as explained and work to the stated length. Repeat on the other short side of piece. Happy knitting!

ROW 4 (= WS): K from WS with rose mist Fabel. Repeat rows 1 to 4. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. DECREASE TIP (applies to tie): Beg 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso (= 2 sts dec). ---------------------------------------------------------- SHOULDER PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth on circular needle because of no of sts. Loosely cast on 136-153-170 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with off white/beige Fabel. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above, and cut the yarn. Then work TEXTURED PATTERN - see explanation above – with 1 edge st in garter st in each side. TIES: Insert 1 marker in one short side of piece – NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Pick up from RS approx. 70 to 80 sts along the one short side of piece on needle size 3 mm with off white/beige Fabel (i.e. pick up 1 st in every ridge in garter st and 1 st in every section in stocking st). K 1 row from WS while AT THE SAME TIME dec evenly to 43-45-47 sts. Insert 1 marker in the middle st on row. On next row (= RS) dec 2 sts in the mid of row - READ DECREASE TIP. Repeat dec every 4th row (i.e. every other row from RS) 12-13-14 more times (= 13-14-15 dec in total) = 17 sts remain. Work back and forth until tie measures 26-28-30 cm from marker. Loosely cast off. Repeat on the other short side of shoulder piece. |
