Hi could you tell me what you mean by Sew thread through outermost sts and tighten tog? What thread and which stitches? Thanks a lot!

Dear Emily, pull the thread from beg (before cast on) through sts on cast on edge and tighten tog to shape the toe. Happy knitting!

Hva menes med "Strikk videre til arb måler 13-13-14-16-18-20-21 cm. Neste p strikkes slik: 8-8-8-10-10-10-10 m rille, 18-19-21-18-19-21-21 m glstrikk, 8-8-8-10-10-10-10 m rille" ?

Hello, with your pattern and explanation, it's very easy to knit. I am now wondering about the length of the unfelted sock. I am knitting for a 46/48 size foot. The pattern says to knit until piece measures 51cm. Does it mean that the shrinkage during felting will reduce it to 30cm? It's surprising because I have felted a different pattern (non-Drop) using Eskimo yarn and it didn't shrink that much (using temperature of 40° in the laundry machine). Thank you for your advice.
02.03.2013 - 09:10DROPS Design answered:
Usually garment felts up to 1/3. If it didn't shrink as much as needed, wash again but be aware, it might shrink to much. In this case soak garment in hot water and strech to size.

Felted slippers for men in DROPS Snow. Size 26 to 48
DROPS 135-38 |
|
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. INCREASE TIP: Inc from RS with 1 YO. On next row P YO twisted, i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front, to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER: Work back and forth from toes towards heel, sew slipper tog mid on top of foot. Cast on 10-11-13-14-15-17-17 sts on needle size 6 mm with Snow (let the thread end be approx. 50 cm for sewing the slipper tog when finished). Insert a marker in the 4th-4th-4th-5th-5th-5th-5th st and a marker in the 7th-8th-10th-10th-11th-13th-13th st. Work in stocking st - AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st on each side of the 2 markers – SEE INCREASE TIP, repeat inc every other row a total of 6 times = 34-35-37-38-39-41-41 sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue to work until piece measures 13-13-14-16-18-20-21 cm. Work next row as follows: 8-8-8-10-10-10-10 sts in garter st, 18-19-21-18-19-21-21 sts in stocking st, 8-8-8-10-10-10-10 sts in garter st. Continue like this until piece measures 31-33-36-40-44-49-51 cm. Cast off. ASSEMBLY: Sew thread through outermost sts and tighten tog, sew seam mid on top of foot inside ½ sts up to where sts in garter st beg. Fold the slipper double and sew tog mid back edge to edge to avoid a chunky seam. FELTING: Place the slippers in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. Put the on slipper and shape it to the correct size while it is still wet. At subsequent wash, wash the slippers at regular wool programme. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
