These socks are made flat with each side of heel shaped one side at a time. I’m finding it difficult following instructions. Is there a video showing the flat shaping

Dear Sue, sure you will find 2 videos showing how to knit the left and how to knit the right side of heel. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Dear Mrs Burch, if you work with a larger needle you will have a different tension, you may find other socks patterns matching your tension here. Happy knitting!

I would like to make socks on circular needle size 7 or 8 with worsted yarn or heavier. My feet get very cold, even in the summer. Do you have a pattern. I don't like the very small needles.

I bought Drop's Delight yarn (colour 6). The gauge on the yarn is 23 sts and 30 rows in 10x10cm (with a 3.5mm needle). None of the patterns for this yarn match that or are even close. They all have a much higher row count and only close on the stitch count and with a smaller needle. Which gauge should I refer to ?
21.01.2019 - 02:03DROPS Design answered:
Dear Suzanne, you have to reach the gauge indicate in the pattern. Happy crafting!

DECREASING TIP: Dec 1 st inside the outermost st by K2 tog. HEEL: Work 1 row on heel-sts. Continue in garter st at the same time slip 1 st towards stitch holder-1 on stitch holder-2 on every 4th row. Continue like this until there are 6-7-8 sts on stitch-holder-2 = 7 sts left on needle. Insert a marker in piece, use this to measure the length of the foot. Continue in garter st and now work 1 st from stitch holder-2 back on needle on every 4th row. NOTE! To avoid a hole pick up 1 st between sts on needle and sts on stitch holder. On next row work the 2 new sts tog. Continue like this until there are 13-14-15 sts on needle again. Work 1 row on all sts. -------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS: Worked back and forth on needle. The sock is worked in 1 piece, from top down and sewn tog mid back and under foot. The whole sock is worked in garter st, i.e. K all rows. Cast on 70-75-80 sts on needle size 2.5 mm with Delight. Work back and forth on all sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 2-3-4 cm dec 1 st each side - See DECREASING TIP! – repeat the dec on every 2 cm a total of 10 times = 50-55-60 sts. When piece measures 21-22-23 cm slip the first 37-41-45 sts on stitch holder-1 = 13-14-15 sts left on needle. Work HEEL - see above – on these 13-14-15 sts. After heel slip sts back on stitch holder-1. Now slip the first 13-14-15 sts from stitch holder-1 (i.e. the opposite side) back on needle. Work heel in the same way on these sts. Slip all sts back on needle = 50-55-60 sts. Work back and forth as before on all sts. At the same time when piece measures approx 8 cm from marker on heel dec 1 st each side = 48-53-58 sts. Continue until piece measures 19-20-22 cm from marker on heel (3-4-5 cm remain). Now dec 7-7-6 sts evenly on every 4th row a total of 5-6-7 times = 13-11-16 sts left on needle. On next row K2 tog across the row. Pull thread through sts, tighten tog and fasten. ASSEMBLY: Sew the sock tog mid back and under foot. Sew edge to edge in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. |
