Hi, are the buttons just for decoration or to hold down the flap on the large page? Thanks Tania
09.05.2018 - 02:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Tania, buttons are sewn and hold on the flap with to the crochet edge (right now missing) worked along the flap: 1 dc(UK)/sc(US) in the first 3 sts, 2 ch, skip 2 sts, 1 dc/sc in each of the next 29 sts, 2 ch, skip the next 2 sts, 1 dc/sc in each of the last 3 sts. Correction will be added asap. Happy knitting!

Moss st: 1st row: * K 1, P 1 *. 2nd row: * work K over P and P over K *. Repeat 2nd row upwards. Ridge (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge of garter st = 2 rows. 1st row K, 2nd row K. Large bag: Cast on edge = bottom edge of flap on bag, then the flap is worked followed by the bag itself. Cast on 39 sts on needle size 3 mm with 1 strand Bomull-Lin and 1 strand Cotton Viscose or Safran. Work as follows: 1st row (= WS): K. 2nd row (= RS): K. Continue working moss st but the 2 outermost sts in each side are worked as follows from edge (seen from RS): 1 st garter st and 1 st stocking st. Remember knitting tension! When piece measures 11 cm work moss st across all sts upwards. When piece measures 34 cm cast on 6 new sts in each side = 51 sts. Continue to work as follows (seen from RS): 1 st garter st, 1 st stocking st, 2 sts moss st, 1 st stocking st, 41 sts moss st, 1 st stocking st, 2 sts moss st, 1 st stocking st and 1 st garter st. When piece measures 53 cm work 1 ridge garter st across the middle 39 sts. Cast off all sts on next row. Assembly: The bag is crochet together with dc and with 1 strand of each quality on hook size 4 mm. Fold the bag double where the 6 new sts were made in each side. These 6 sts are side pieces = approx. 3 cm in width. Work inside 1 edge st. Start by working together the 3 cm at the bottom and continue upwards along the side. Repeat on other side of bag. Crochet 2 button loops on flap as follows: Start outermost on the one side: 3 dc, 2 ch, skip 2 dc, 29 dc, 2 ch, skip 2 dc, 3 dc. Sew on buttons. Shoulder straps: There are 2 shoulder straps on the bag. Crochet with hook size 4 mm and 2 strands Bomull-Lin + 1 strand Cotton Viscose or Safran: 2 ch-rows of approx. 100 to 120 cm each. Fasten the straps at top of each side of bag. Small bag: Cast on edge = bottom edge of flap on bag, then the flap is worked followed by the bag itself. Cast on 11 sts on needle size 3 mm with 1 strand Bomull-Lin and 1 strand Cotton Viscose or Safran. Work 2 rows K = 1 ridge (1st row = WS and 2nd row = RS). Continue working moss st across all sts while at the same time inc 1 st in each side with 1 YO inside the outermost st. Inc in each side every 2nd row: 1 st in total 7 times = 25 sts. Continue with moss st across all sts until piece measures 22 cm, work 1 ridge, cast off. Assembly: Fold the bag double so that the flap, which is 5 cm, shows above the side. Crochet sides of bag together using dc and 1 strand of each quality with hook size 4 mm. Crochet 1 button loop in middle of flap as follows: Start outermost on the one side: 3 dc, 3 ch, fasten with 1 dc 1 cm further on, 2 sc, fasten with 1 sl st. Sew on button. |
