Bon tricot!

I am finished the hat but the top has gaps so you can see holes between the stitches. Can you please tell me how to fix it?
15.01.2025 - 15:25DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sonia, you can try knitting the decreases thighter, like pulling the yarn after each decrease, or xyou can try knitting the crown with a 0,5 mm smaller needle. Happy Knitting!

Does decrease 2x2 mean knit 2 together all the way around, or knit 2 together, purl 2 together all the way around?
07.05.2024 - 06:31DROPS Design answered:
Hi Linda, On these last 2 rounds, all stitches are knitted together 2 and 2. Regards, Drops Team.

HI I am making the icebreaker hat,I am almost finished but I am a bit confused about something. It says at the bottom work 2 rounds with knit 1/purl 1 and then the next line says work 2 rounds decreasing all stitches together 2x2.,my question is how do I do that 1 stitch is knit and the other is purl.Thank you.
28.09.2021 - 03:16DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Maitland, you simply just work all stitches together 2 by 2, , if you like to line up the K1 from the rib with the decrease, start the first of these 2 rounds when 1 stitch remain (= the last purl of the end of round) and knit together this Purl stitch + the next K stitch and continue like this K 2 tog for 2 rounds (until 11-12 sts remain). Happy knitting!

Would it be possible to make this hat to fit 25 inches around ? My son has a huge head, finds it hard to find hats that fit, him properly. Thanks in advanced. How would I make this size?
21.09.2021 - 16:53DROPS Design answered:
Dear Charlene, Please understand that we cannot modify our patterns to each individual request, However it might help to know that 25 inch is about 63 cm, and the sizing goes up to 62 cm. The hat is knitted from an extremely flexible ribbed pattern. You might try to use just a little bit bigger needle (0,25 mm thicker can go a long way). Or you might be a knitter whose default gaige is looset than the given, so please make a swatch and calculate accordingly. Happy Stitching!

------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, with circular needle, bottom up. Change to double pointed needles when necessary. HAT: Cast on 88-96 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm and Nepal. Work rib in the round with knit 2 / purl 2. Work until piece measures 30-32 cm. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! On the next round decrease all purl 2 into purl 1 by purling 2 together = 66-72 stitches. Work 3 rounds with knit 2 / purl 1. On the next round decrease all knit 2 into knit 1 = 44-48 stitches. Work 2 rounds with knit 1 / purl 1. Work 2 rounds decreasing all stitches together 2 by 2 = 11-12 stitches. Cut the strand, thread it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 34-36 cm. Fold up the bottom. |
