Am using alternate Yarn Karisma Superwash Wool with 4.5mm needles. Problem is on decreasing Tip 1. Body, on either side of the Stocking-Stitch panels the piece is bending outwards and not lying flat!! What could be the problem? Am following the decreasing tip to the letter!!
23.08.2017 - 19:28DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Ruthenstorfer, there are only 2 sts in stocking st on back piece all other sts will be worked in garter st. You then dec before and after each of these 2 sts - remaining sts will be still worked in garter st. You could also bring your work to your store or send them a picture per mail, they could then have a better look on your work and assist you. Happy knitting!

Gauge: 20 sts x 39 rows in garter st = 10 x 10 cm. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Decreasing tips-1 (for Body): All decs are made on right side before and after a center st knit in stockinette st. Before center st: K 3 tog, yo. After center st: yo, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso. Note: On the next row, twist and knit the yo from the previous row to avoid a hole. Decreasing tips-2 (for armhole and neck): All decs are made on right side inside 6 edge sts knit as follows from the edge: 5 sts in garter st, 1 st in stockinette st. Before 6 edge sts: sl 1, K 1, psso. After 6 edge sts: K 2 tog. Increasing tips (for Body): All increases are made on right side rows. Inc 2 sts by making a yo before and after the center st in stockinette st. On the next row twist and knit the yo to avoid making a hole. Back: Cast on 92-102-112 sts. Establish pattern as follows (seen from the right side): 22-25-28 sts in garter st, 1 st in stockinette st, 46-50-54 sts in garter st, 1 st in stockinette st, 22-25-28 sts in garter st. Continue in pattern as established. When the piece measures 7 cm dec 1 st at each side of each of the sts in stockinette st every 6 rows 5 times (there will be 5 rows between each dec row) - see decreasing tips-1 = 72-82-92 sts. When the piece measures 20 cm inc 1 st at each side of each of the sts in stockinette st every 6 rows 5 times - see Increasing tips = 92-102-112 sts. Knit 3 rows after last inc, and then garter st over all sts. When the piece measures 35-36-37 cm bind off 3-4-5 sts at each side for armhole. Dec 1 st at each side every 4 rows 6-9-12 times - see decreasing tips-2 = 74-76-78 sts. Continue, keeping the 6th st from each edge in stockinette st. When the piece measures 52-54-56 cm bind off the center 22-22-24 sts for the neck. Keeping 6th st from neck edge in stockinette st, dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 3 times - see knitting tips-2 = 23-24-24 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 54-56-58 cm. Left front: Cast on 51-56-61 sts. Establish pattern as follows from side edge (seen from the right side): 22-25-28 sts in garter st, 1 st in stockinette st, 22-24-26 sts in garter st, 1 st in stockinette st, 5 sts garter st (button band). Continue in pattern as established until the piece measures 7 cm, then dec 1 st at each side of the st in stockinette st closest the side edge every 6 rows 5 times - see decreasing tips-1 = 41-46-51 sts. When the piece measures 20 cm inc 1 st at each side of the same st in stockinette st every 6 rows 5 times - see Increasing tips = 51-56-61 sts. Knit 3 rows after last inc, and then garter st over all sts. When the piece measures 35-36-37 cm bind off for armhole at the side as on back, and keep the 6th st from armhole edge in stockinette st. When the piece measures 40-41-42 cm bind off 8 sts at center front edge for neck. Keeping the 6th st from center front edge in stockinette st, dec 1 st inside 6 edge sts for neck every other row 6-6-7 times and then every 4 rows 5-5-5 times - see knitting tips-2 = 23-24-24 sts remain on shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 54-56-58 cm. Right front: Knit the same as left, reversing all shaping. Make buttonholes (1 buttonhole = bind off the 4th st from edge on the next row yo over the bound off st) when the piece measures: Size S: 3, 6, 14, 17, 25, 28, 36 and 39 cm Size M: 4, 7, 15, 18, 26, 29, 37 and 40 cm Size L: 5, 8, 16, 19, 27, 30, 38 and 41 cm. Note: for most accurate buttonhole placement, use the centimeter measurement, or row count. There should be 12 rows of garter st between the close-spaced buttonholes. Sleeve: Cast on 46-48-50 sts and knit garter st over all sts. When the piece measures 8 cm inc 1 st at each side every 3-3-2.5 cm 13-13-14 times = 72-74-78 sts. When the piece measures 50-48-46 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, then dec 1 st at each side until the piece measures 57 cm and then bind off 2 sts at each side every other row 2 times. The piece measures approx. 58 cm, bind off. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves and sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. Sew on buttons. |
