How to work Fisherman's rib back and forth, using only knit stitches
Knit back and forth on needles. Cast on an even number of sts (i.e 10, 12, 14 and so on). Knit 1 row. Continue every row like this: * K1, K1 in the stitch below next st (= k1b) *, repeat *-* across the row, turn.
You must read the pattern to be able to follow. You’ll find patterns where this technique is used by clicking on the pictures below.

Dear Greta, yes, you can work this pattern in the round, but it won't be exactly the same (and you can't only use knit stitches, you need to purl as well), since this variation is meant to obtain a two-side English rib without yarn overs. When you work in the round you don't need to get the relief-pattern on the wrong side, only from the right side. To get this, work the 1st round as the 1st row (knit all stitches). Then, in the 2nd round:*purl 1, K1 in the stitch below next st. In the 3rd round you work: knit over knit and purl over purl. Then you will repeat rounds 2 and 3. Happy knitting!

Ja, dat kan. Je breit dan telkens de tweede naald niet recht maar averecht, waarbij je de patentsteken op dezelfde manier breit (dus de naald in de steek eronder steken), maar dan averecht.
