In this DROPS video we show how crochet a double crochet (dc in US term) also known as a treble crochet (tr in UK term) in the round.

When you are crocheting dc's in the round you begin each round with 3 ch that replaces the first dc on this next round. Finish each round with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round.

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet round and round without finishing each round. We have already crocheted a chain stitches row and start the video how to form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. In this DROPS video we show how to get a straight line running down the beginning/the end of the rounds. Work in the round alternately from the right and wrong side, turning the piece after each round. It you work round and round from the right side; the line at the beginning of the round is then slightly diagonal (see the sample patch on the right at the beginning of the video). We also work the piece in stripes and to get a neat transition when changing colours, we work the slip stitch at the end of the round in the new colour. Each round of treble crochets begins with 3 chain stitches which do not replace the first treble crochet. The rounds finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. The stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows (the heel extends under the foot): 1) The heel is worked back and forth across the heel-stitches to achieve the correct height. For this type of heel, the length reaches midway under the heel. 2) Next, the heel is knitted together beneath the foot. 3) The sock is then continued in the round, with stitches picked up along both sides of the heel length, working towards the toe. 4) This heel creates a square shape, which is why this type of heel is known as a square heel.
