In this DROPS video we show how crochet a double crochet (dc in US term) also known as a treble crochet (tr in UK term) in the round.

When you are crocheting dc's in the round you begin each round with 3 ch that replaces the first dc on this next round. Finish each round with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round.

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet round and round without finishing each round. We have already crocheted a chain stitches row and start the video how to form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. In this DROPS video we show how to get a straight line running down the beginning/the end of the rounds. Work in the round alternately from the right and wrong side, turning the piece after each round. It you work round and round from the right side; the line at the beginning of the round is then slightly diagonal (see the sample patch on the right at the beginning of the video). We also work the piece in stripes and to get a neat transition when changing colours, we work the slip stitch at the end of the round in the new colour. Each round of treble crochets begins with 3 chain stitches which do not replace the first treble crochet. The rounds finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. To mark the beginning it is a good idea to use a scrap yarn to mark the 1st stitch on the round. Finish each round with 1 sl st in the chain from beg of round. Make sure to not work the sc that the ch was made in! Keep moving the marking thread for each round. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. In this DROPS video we show a pair of mittens before and after felting. To prevent the thumb from felting together, turn the mitten to WS (wrong side) and place a narrow silk ribbon along the thumb. Secure the ribbon with a safety pin – NB: insert the pin vertically towards the tip of the thumb so it is easy to remove after felting. Turn the mitten back to RS (right side) before felting. 1. Place the mittens in the washing machine with a wool detergent that does not contain enzymes or optical brighteners. 2. Wash at 40 °C / 104 °F, normal spin, no pre-wash. 3. Stretch and shape the mittens to the correct measurements while still wet. 4. If they turn out too small: soak in water until completely wet, then stretch back to the desired size. 5. Afterwards, the mittens can be washed as any other wool garment.

In this DROPS video we how to make 3 strands out of 1 single strand from a ball of yarn. 1. Make a simple loop (like the loop worked when you begin any crochet project) and pull it to approx. 2-3 cm in length. 2. Thread the strand from the skein through this loop, creating a new loop of approx. 40-50 cm. 3. Lay this loop alongside the working strand, so 1 strand becomes 3 strands. 4. Knit or crochet using these 3 strands until there is approx. 2 cm left. Repeat points 2 to 4.
