INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN:

PATTERN:
Hat: See diagram A.1.
Neck warmer: See diagram A.2.
----------------------------------------------------------

HAT:
The hat is worked in the round, top down, with double pointed needles. Change to circular needle when necessary.

Cast on 10 stitches with double pointed needles size 7 mm and Eskimo. NOTE: Leave approx. 20 cm of strand-end to be able to gather together top of hat when finished.
Work PATTERN according to diagram A.1 (= 5 repeats of 2 stitches on the first round). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the whole of the diagram has been completed in height, there are 70 stitches on the round and the piece measures 25 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Cut and fasten the strand. Thread the strand-end from the cast-on edge through each and every stitch at the top of the hat, pull tight and fasten well.

----------------------------------------------------------

NECK WARMER:
The neck warmer is worked in the round, top down.
Cast on 84 stitches with circular needle size 8 mm and Eskimo. Work rib (knit 1 /purl 1) for 3 cm. Then work 1 round stocking stitch where you decrease 12 stitches evenly on round = 72 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 7 cm. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work PATTERN according to diagram A.2 (= 8 repeats of 9 stitches on first round). When the whole of diagram A.2 has been completed in height, there are 112 stitches on the round and the neck warmer measures approx. 30 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Cut and fasten the strand.

Hello, could you give me more information on the yarn overs that are knitted twisted or purled twisted. It seems from the picture that the twisted stitches create a nice outline for the outer leaf. But when I’m doing them, they all go in the same direction so one side of the leaf has nice edging and the other does not. Should I continue as I am or pay attention to right leaning or left leaning twisted stitches. Thanks, Lindsay

DROPS Design 04.12.2017 kl. 10:34:

Dear Lindsay, this video shows how to make a yarn over and how to purl it "normal" (= in the front loop of yo) and how to purl it twisted (= in the back loop of yo) on next row. When you knit YO twisted on next round, knit the back loop of yo instead of front loop. Happy knitting!
