GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle/double pointed needles):
* K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds.

In the begining of every round with dc, replace first dc with 1 ch. Finish round with 1 sl st in ch at beg of round.

Work 2 dc tog to 1 dc as follows: Insert hook in first st, get yarn, insert hook in next st, get yarn, make a YO and pull thread through all 3 sts on hook.

Worked in the round on circular needle and then on double pointed needles.
Cast on 104-120 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Merino Extra Fine. Work rib = K 2/P 2 for 3 cm. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm and continue in stocking st – AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round dec 6-8 sts evenly = 98-112 sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 4-5 cm, work 3 RIDGES in garter st – see explanation above. Then work in stocking st for approx. 6 cm. Work 3 RIDGES in garter st, then work in stocking st until finished measurements. When piece measures 14-16 cm in total, insert 7 markers in the piece; 14-16 sts apart. On next round, dec 1 st after every marker by K 2 tog. Repeat dec every other round 4-6 more times and then every round 7-7 times = 14-14 sts remain on needle. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts and tighten tog. The hat measures approx. 19-22 cm vertically.

Crochet 4 teeth in off white on hook size 5 mm in the bottom ridge on hat as follows:
ROW 1: Work 4 dc, 1 ch and turn piece = 4 dc.
ROW 2: Work 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc tog – READ CROCHET DC TOG, 1 dc in last dc, 1 ch and turn piece = 3 dc.
ROW 3: Work 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc tog, 1 ch and turn piece = 2 dc.
ROW 4: Work the last 2 dc tog, cut the yarn and pull it through st and fasten tightly.

Work 3 ch with red on hook size 5 mm, join with 1 sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.
ROUND 1: Work 4 dc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc = 8 dc.
ROUND 3: Work * 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in next *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 12 dc.
ROUND 4-5: Work 1 dc in every dc, cut the yarn and pull it through last st. Fill nose with some cotton wool and fasten mid front on hat.

Work 3 ch with off white on hook size 5 mm and form a ring.
ROUND 1: Work 4 dc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc the entire round = 8 dc, cut the yarn and pull it through last st. Work another eye the same way. Embroider a pupil with black and fasten eyes mid front above the nose.

Work a dc-row with black yarn in the ridge above one eye, work an curve that slants a bit down the top side of nose and continue over the other eye. Fasten off.

Cut strands in red yarn with a length of approx. 20 cm. Cut as many strands as you want to use in each fringe. Insert a hook in and out at the top of hat. Pull yarn through to the middle to make a large loop. Pull yarn ends through this loop and tighten.

Hoi Jutte. Je hebt gelijk. Ik heb het patroon aangepast. Bedankt voor het melden.
