Knitted DROPS shawl in domino squares in ”Fabel”.
DROPS 113-11 |
|
1 DOMINO SQUARE: Insert a marker in the middle st. Row 1 (WS): K all sts. Row 2 (RS): K sts on row until 1 st before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, K remaining sts on row. Repeat row 1 and 2, i.e. dec 2 sts in the middle of square on every other row, until there is 1 st left on needle, pull thread through this. 1 HALF DOMINO SQUARE: Like a whole domino square, but in addition to dec in the middle of square slip 1 st on a stitch holder at the end of every row. Continue until there are 3 sts left on needle (14 sts on stitch holder each side). K 1 row from WS and work next row as follows from RS: slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso. Pull thread through remaining st (leave sts on stitch holders each side). --------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Beg at the point of shawl by working 1 domino square. For every row of squares inc 1 domino square each side. All rows beg from the RS. To avoid fastening thread ends afterwards do not cut the thread after each completed square but use it to pick up sts for the new square on next row. The balls of yarn will thus follow the squares diagonally as you go along. ROW 1: Cast on 59 sts on needle size 3 mm with Fabel. Work 1 domino square – see above. ROW 2: Cast on 29 sts on needle size 3 mm, pick up 30 sts along one side of square-1 = 59 sts. Work 1 domino square. Pick up 30 sts on the other side of square-1 and cast on 29 new sts at the end of row = 59 sts. Work 1 domino square = 2 squares on row 2. ROW 3: Beg from RS. Cast on 29 sts on needle size 3 mm, pick up 30 sts on one side of the first square on row 2 = 59 sts. Work 1 domino square. Pick up 29 sts along the other side of the first square on row 2, pick up 1 st between the squares and pick up 29 sts along the side of the next square = 59 sts. Work 1 domino square. Pick up 30 sts along the other side of the second square on row 2 and cast on 29 new sts at the end of row = 59 sts. Work 1 domino square = 3 squares on row 3. ROW 4 to 8: Continue like this, adding 1 square each side for every row. ROW 8: = 8 domino squares. ROW 9: Beg from RS. Cast on 29 sts on needle size 3 mm, pick up 30 sts along one side of the first square on row 8 = 59 sts. Work 1 half domino square – see above. Now pick up 59 sts between the squares on row 8 and work 1 half domino square between each = 8 half squares on row 9. Pick up 30 sts along the side of the last square, cast on 29 new sts and work 1 half domino square = 9 half domino squares. Slip all sts on circular needle size 3 mm = 252 sts. K 1 row, AT THE SAME TIME pick up 2 sts in the middle of all squares = 270 sts. K 1 row on all sts and cast off. |
