Bon tricot !

Hello, I would love to knit this jacket but I can't wear mohair. Can you suggest a yarn alternative that would keep the soft effect of this jacket? Thanks, Beryl

Dear Mrs Brown, do not hesitate to read "alternative yarns" and request help from your Drops store ! Happy knitting !

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Both rows in diagram shows pattern from RS. -------------------------------------------------------- JACKET: Worked back and forth in 2 parts and sewn tog when finished. LEFT PART: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Left back and front piece are worked in one from mid back. Cast on 108-108-119-119-130-130 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 thread BabyAlpaca Silk and 1 thread Kid-Silk. Work 4 rows in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Work next row as follows (= from RS): 3 edge sts in garter st, K 2 (worked in stocking st until finished measurements), diagram A.1 a total of 9-9-10-10-11-11 times, finish with 4 edge sts in garter st. Continue the pattern like this. When piece measures 13-14-15-16-17-18 cm, cast off the last edge st on row (seen from RS) = 107-107-118-118-129-129 sts. Continue pattern. When piece measures 83-84-85-86-87-88 cm, cast on a new edge st at the end of row (seen from RS) = 108-108-119-119-130-130 sts. Work until piece measures 96-98-100-102-104-106 cm. Continue the pattern while AT THE SAME TIME working short rows over piece as follows (1st row = from RS): Work until 10 sts remain on row, turn and work back. Work until 16 sts remain on row, turn and work back. Work until 21 sts remain on row, turn and work back. Continue with short rows, on every row from RS work alternately over 5 and 6 sts less than previous short row. Continue with short rows until short rows have been worked over all sts (last short row is worked over 11 sts), work 4 rows in garter st over all sts, cast off. RIGHT PART: Work as left part but reversed, 1st row with pattern is worked as follows - from RS: 4 edge sts in garter st, K 2 (worked in stocking st until finished measurements), A.1 a total of 9-9-10-10-11-11 times, finish with 3 edge sts in garter st. When piece measures 13-14-15-16-17-18 cm, cast off the first edge st on row (seen from RS). When piece measures 83-84-85-86-87-88 cm, cast on a new edge st at the beg of row (seen from RS). When working short rows, start from WS. ASSEMBLY: See measurement chart. Sew A against A and B against B. Sew D against D. Sew C against C but stop when 25 cm remain (= vent). |
