Where can I buy a Bosnian, or shepherds crochet hook? I am having a hard time using my regular hooks.

Dear Barbara, Bosnian crochet can be made with a regular crochet hook - as shown in the video below. Please contact your DROPS Store for any further assistance. Happy crocheting!

I think there is a mistake in this pattern for mittens. It says both in the english version and in norwegian to crochet in both loops. This is impossible! I am sure it should be in the back loop!!!
03.02.2014 - 12:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Lindmark, we do Bosnian at the edge when working in back loops, but then the rest of the mitten is through both loops, as in the white section in the video below. Happy crocheting!

Original pattern said 2 skeins, but then the pattern was corrected to 3 skeins, since some people told us they needed 3 skeins. We will go through and update all languages. Thank you.

Why does the finnish pattern for these mittens state that you need 100g Drops Eskimo and the US pattern says 150g? Which one is right?

Hej Tanja.

DROPS Crochet mittens in Snow.

Crochet Gauge: 14 slip sts = 10 cm. Note: Because of different crochet techniques used by the individual, the gauge can vary, so you might have to drop a size up or down in hook size to obtain the correct gauge. Crochet info: Crochet around in sl sts without finishing off rounds. Mitten: Crochet 28 ch. on hook size 7, in Snow (the ch sts string should measure approx 26 cm. You can add to this length should you wish the glove to be wider. The glove will be approx 5-6 cm smaller than the string) and form a ring with a sl st. Crochet 3 rows sl st at the top loop of the st – 1 sl st in each ch/sl st = 28 sl st. Continue to crochet sl st, but now crochet through the entire sl st. When the piece measures 13 cm make an opening for the thumb as follows: at beginning of row crochet 5 ch skip 5 sl st and continue row as before (the opening for the thumb will be approx 4 cm, you can change this size to be smaller or bigger depending on the number of ch and sl st you skip). On next row crochet 1 sl st in each ch = 28 sl st. Continue to crochet until the piece measures 24 cm (approx 2 cm shorter than the finished mitten). Dec as follows: Continue crochet sl st but skip every other sl st = 14 sl sts on row. Crochet 1 row. On next row, again skip every other sl st = 7 sl st. Dec 1 more time on last row = 3-4 sl st left. Pull the thread through the remaining sts and pull together. Sew tight. Thumb: Crochet 10 sl st round the opening for the thumb (1 sl st in each skipped sl st and 1 sl st in each crochet ch). Continue crochet sl st as before. When thumb measures 5 cm (or desired length) dec. as follows: crochet sl st but skip every other sl st = 5 sl st left. Pull the thread through the left sts. Pull together. Sew tight. |
