Hi, Do you ever plan on stocking Brown in Drops Alpaca? You do a gorgeous brown in Fabel (shade 300), that shade is important to be put in alpaca too. Brown is a very important colour and I’ve always been surprised as to why it is not manufactured in Drops Alpaca, or even Nord and Flora. Thanks

Dear Mona, Alpaca wool and normal wool are differently dyed, so their colour shades will always look different. As of this moment, we have no information regarding new Alpaca shades. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- HEEL DECREASES: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 7-8-8 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 7-8-8 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 14-14-16 stitches left on the needle. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles. SOCK: Cast on 60-64-68 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and brown DROPS Fabel. Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) in the round for 3 cm. Continue with stocking stitch and wooden rose, AT THE SAME TIME on round 1 decrease 6 stitches evenly spaced = 54-58-62 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 6 cm, keep the first 26-28-30 stitches on the needle for the heel and place the other 28-30-32 stitches on a thread (= top of foot). Work stocking stitch with brown, back and forth over the heel-stitches for 5-5½-6 cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the row – this is used to measure the foot. Work HEEL DECREASES – read description above. When the heel decreases are finished, knit up 13-14-16 stitches on each side of the heel with wooden rose and place the 28-30-32 stitches from the thread back on the needles = 68-72-80 stitches. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches on top of the foot. Continue with stocking stitch and wooden rose, AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side as follows: Knit twisted together the last 2 stitches before the first marker and knit together the first 2 stitches after the second marker. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 8-8-10 times = 52-56-60 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 18-19-21 cm from the marker on the heel – measured under the foot. There is approx. 4-5-6 cm left to finished length. Insert 1 marker in each side, with 26-28-30 stitches both on top of and underneath the foot. Continue with stocking stitch and brown, AT THE SAME TIME decrease for the toe as follows: Before each marker: Knit 2 together. After each marker: Knit 2 twisted together. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 4-7-9 times, then every round 6-3-2 times = 12-16-16 stitches. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2. Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. Work the other sock in the same way. |
