How to work a 2 coloured double knit folding edge, with purled stitches in the fold
BEFORE THE VIDEO STARTS:
We go straight to casting on.
THE VIDEO SHOWS:
Cast on as shown in the video, with 2 colours worked alternately. The start-loop is dropped after a couple of rows and is therefore not included in the stitch count when casting on. Stitches are cast on for both sides at the same time, and every other stitch belongs to the back of the piece. Cast on an even number of stitches (= the same number of stitches on the front and back). When working the first row, make sure the strands are twisted so the first stitch is held in place. Knit the knitted stitches and purl the purled stitches as shown in the video.

Bonjour Mme Duchamp, à partir de la moitié de la vidéo, vous pourrez voir comment tricoter alternativement l'une et l'autre couleur, d'abord sur le côté rouge, puis sur le côté vert. Vous trouverez d'autres vidéos sur le même thème juste au-dessus de cette rubrique. Bon tricot!

12.09.2022 - 12:17Hello, the person demonstrating this cast on uses a very interesting method to hold the two yarns while knitting after the cast on, but it's a little hard to see how she wraps the yarns around the fingers of her left hand. Does the upper yarn pass only across the front of the middle finger, while the lower yarn passes in front of both the middle and ring finger? Do you have a video where the management of the two yarns is demonstrated clearly? Her skill is remarkable. Thanks.
08.03.2020 - 07:32Zie ik goed dat met dit dubbelbreien de opzetrand niet omkrult? Kan dit dan eventueel ook met 2 x dezelfde kleur om een mooie platte boord te krijgen zonder een boordsteek te gebruiken?

27.02.2019 - 19:25So far so good casting on... but then I noticed way too late this method only works for double pointed needles! Yes I’m still learning. Just wish it was in the directions then I would have read it 😕
