How to make a yarn over (yo)

In this DROPS video we show how you can make a yarn over (yo).

With a yarn over you can create a decorative hole. In the video we show 2 times how you increase 1 stitch by making a yarn over (yo). Halfway through the video we have turned the work and show you how to work the yo in front or back loop depending if you prefer a larger or smaller hole. When working the back loop the stitch becomes twisted and this way the hole becomes a bit smaller.

Bonjour Nathalie, quand vous faites un jeté après 1 m end et avant 1 m env, tricotez la m end, passez le fil 1 x autour de l'aiguille et tricotez la m suivante à l'envers. Pour faire un jeté après une m env et avant une m endroit, tricotez la m env, laissez le fil devant l'ouvrage et tricotez la m suivante à l'end, le fil va se mettre automatiquement autour de l'aiguille et former le jeté. Bonjour Patricia, si vous tenez le fil dans la main droite, après 1 m end, le fil est derrière l'ouvrage, ramenez-le devant, puis entourez-le autour de l'aiguille droite pour qu'il soit de nouveau devant et prêt pour tricoter la m envers = le fil doit être enroulé 1 seule fois autour de l'aiguille droite. Bonjour Mme Tavernier, Dans le diagramme M.1B du 129-37 on doit faire un double jeté (aux rangs 1 et 5), aux rangs suivants (=2 et 6), tricotez les 2 jetés comme dans la vidéo ci-dessous. Bon tricot!

Dear Michele, there are no errors in diagram M.1: M.1 is worked over 17 sts, 3xk2tog (= 3 sts), 6 YOs over 5 sts (= 11 sts), 3xk2 tog (= 3 sts)= 17 sts in total. Happy knitting!

Dear Nancy, if you are doing a YO to inc 1 st, you will get 1 more st for every YO - if you are doing a hole pattern without dec, the YO should compensate the dec. Happy knitting!
