In this DROPS video we show how you can bind off loosely using a crochet hook. This makes an elastic edge on your knitted piece.

Bind off as follows: Slip crochet hook through the first st and pull thread through (leave st on needle), make 1 YO and pull through loop on hook, slip crochet hook through the same st again, pull thread through st and through loop on hook, let the st off the needle, slip crochet hook through next st (leave st on needle), pull thread through st and through loop on hook, slip crochet hook through the same st again, pull thread through st and through loop on hook = 2 sl sts in st, let st off the needle.
Continue like this with 2 sl sts in each st until all sts have been bound off.

Bonjour Mme Bordas, les mailles envers seront rabattues comme les mailles endroit - pour rabattre les côtes souplement, vous pouvez les rabattre comme elles se présentent, en faisant des jetés régulièrement par exemple. Bon tricot!

In this DROPS video we show you how to join 2 pieces together (A and B), then cast off with an I-cord. Place all the stitches from A and B on the same needle, so that every second stitch on the needle belongs to A and B. We cast off with I-cord as follows: - Cast on 3 stitches onto the right needle. In this DROPS video we show how to do an Italian cast off to a rib with knit 1 / purl 1 by sewing the cast off edge with needle and thread. With this technique we get an elastic cast off that is perfect for example on toe up socks, edge around neck, a shawl edge or sleeve edges when working top down. Cut yarn long enough for your cast off, approx 3-4 times the length of the edge you are casting off. Part 1: Start from the right side (the first stitch should be a knit stitch). Insert the needle into the 1st stitch as if to knit, lift the stitch off the needle, insert the needle into the 2nd stitch on the left needle (= knit stitch) as if to purl. Pull the thread through these 2 stitches (= 1 stitch cast off). Part 2: Insert the needle into the 1st stitch (purl stitch) as if to purl and lift the stitch off the needle, then insert the needle from the back side between the 1st and 2nd stitches and insert the needle through the 2nd stitch (purl stitch) as if to knit, pull the thread completely through the 2 stitches. In this DROPS video we show how to do an Italian cast off in a piece work with Knit 2 Purl 2. Before starting the cast off, work 1 round where 2 knit - 2 purl becomes 1 knit - 1 purl. Cut yarn long enough for your cast off, approx 4 times the length of the edge you are casting off. 1) Insert the needle into the 1st stitch (knit stitch) as if to knit and slip the stitch of needle. 2) Insert needle into 2nd stitch (knit stitch) as if to purl. 3) Insert needle into 1st stitch (purl stitch) as if to purl, lift the stitch off (the thread is now at the back of the work). From the back, insert the needle between 1st and 2nd stitches. 4) From the front, insert the needle into the purl stitch (2nd stitch). Repeat from the beginning. In this DROPS video we show how we cast off with an i-cord edge in a piece worked in garter stitches / ridge stitches. Cast on 2 stitches, knit up 1 stitch in the outermost loop of the bottom ridge = 3 stitches on the needle. *Push the stitches back to the beginning of the needle and work again from the right side without turning. Knit 2, slip the next stitch as if to knit, knit up a new stitch in the next ridge on the hood, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted-up stitch *, work from *-* until an edge has been worked. Knit up 1 stitch in each ridge, if this makes the edge tight, knit up 1 more stitch evenly (we have knitted 2 extra stitches in this piece). Knit together the last 3 stitches on the row.
