How to increase 4 stitches in 1 stitch.

In this DROPS video we show how to increase 4 stitches in 1 stitch like this:
Knit 1 in the knitted stitch but do not slip the stitch from the left needle, make 1 yarn over the right needle, knit 1 in the same stitch but do not slip the stitch from the needle, make 1 yarn over the right needle and knit 1 in the same stitch. Slip the stitch off the needle (= 4 stitches increased).
We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

I am not understanding the first row of pattern in scent of rain pattern. A1. What does knit in knit in stitch below mean and if I increase 4 stitches in next stitch how do I still end up with a 4 stitch repeat because now I have 6 stitches plus a purl.

DROPS Design :

Dear Mrs Thom Raum, insert the needle as for Fisherman's rib (see video to see where to insert needle) and increase just as shown in this video working several times the same stitch to increase a total of 4 stitches. Happy knitting!

In this DROPS video we show to increase stitches in the cable stitches, like the raglan increases is done in the “White Heron” jumper in DROPS 254-7. In the video we work 7 stitches (2 garter stitches + knit 1 + purl 2 + knit 2), before A.1 (cable), then knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), A.2 and finish the row with 7 stitches (knit 2 + purl 2 + knit 1 + 2 garter stitches). Work A.1 like this: Place 4 stitches on cable needle behind the piece, knit 2, work 3 stitches in each of the 4 stitches on cable needle (work front, back, front loop of each stitch). 8 increased stitches. In this DROPS video we show a way to make a symmetrical increase that gives 1 new stitch, we show it twice on the same row. Follow steps 1-4 below: 1. Loosely slip the first stitch on the left needle onto the right needle as if to purl. Hold the knitting yarn behind the work. 2. Insert the left needle behind the slipped stitch and between the slipped stitch and the first stitch on the right needle. 3. Make a yarn over on the right needle and pull the yarn over through the stitch to make 1 new stitch on the right needle. 4. Drop the outermost part of the stitch off the left needle and then knit the second strand of the stitch through the front loop. You have now increased 1 stitch We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. This technique can be used in several patterns.
