EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

----------------------------------------------------------

DECREASE/INCREASE TIP (evenly):
To calculate how to decrease/increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 32 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreased/increases to be done (e.g. 6) = 5.3.
In this example decrease by working approx. every 4th and 5th stitch together. When increasing make 1 yarn over after approx. every 5th stitch. On next row work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.

GARTER STITCH (back and forth):
Knit all rows.
1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. First row = right side.

POT HOLDERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Piece is worked back and forth with 2 strands.

POT HOLDER:
Cast on 32 stitches on needle size 3.5 mm with 2 strands Paris. Knit 3 rows. Then knit 1 row while at the same time decreasing 6 stitches evenly - read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 26 stitches. Work 1 ridge in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above.
Continue to work waffle pattern from right side as follows: Work 2 stitches in garter stitch, repeat A.1 until 2 stitches remain on row (= 11 repetitions of 2 stitches) and finish with 2 stitches in garter stitch. Repeat A.1 vertically - REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures approx. 18 cm - adjust after 2nd row in A.1, work next row as follows (= wrong side): 2 stitches in garter stitch, * purl 1, lift loop around the stitch and purl this together with stitch on needle *, work from *-* until 2 stitches remain on needle, and finish with 2 stitches in garter stitch.
Then knit 1 row while increasing 6 stitches evenly = 32 stitches. Knit 3 rows. Work next row with an inserted loop as follows: Knit until 2 stitches remain - cast on 7 new stitches on row, then knit the last 2 stitches together. On next row cast off all stitches by knitting (including the new stitches for loop). Cut and fasten the yarn. Knit another pot holder the same way.

= knit from right side
= knit from wrong side
= knit 1 in stitch from previous row and then drop stitch off left needle
= lift loop around stitch and knit this together with stitch on needle

Bonjour, le fil Paris est utilisé en double, et appartient au groupe C. N'y a-t-il pas une erreur pour la taille des aiguilles 3.5 ? Merci

DROPS Design 23.07.2019 kl. 18:59:

Bonjour Cecile! 3,5 is the needle size we recommend for this knitting tension. They are supposed to be very compact and tight-knit. Happy knitting!
