GARTER ST (back and forth):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS.
----------------------------------------------------------

HEAD BAND:
Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 25 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with Big Merino and work 1 ridge in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Then work A.1 over all sts. Work A.1 until piece measures 52 cm or desired length. Work 1 ridge in garter st and cast off. Sew head band tog mid back.

----------------------------------------------------------
NECK WARMER:
Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 62 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with Big Merino. K 1 row from WS, then work as follows from RS: 6 sts in garter st, K 2, * P 2, K 2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with 6 sts in garter st. Continue like this. When piece measures 4 cm, switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work in garter st over all sts. When piece measures 20 cm, cast off 6 sts in each side = 50 sts. Cut the yarn. Put piece aside. Knit another part the same way.

Cast on 6 sts on circular needle size 5 mm, work st from one part back on needle, work st from the other part back on needle and cast on 6 sts at the end of row = 112 sts. Worked back and forth as follows: 6 sts in garter st (band), A.2, garter st until 12 sts, A.2 and 6 sts in garter st (band). Continue like this until piece measures 30 cm. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm, then work as follows – AT THE SAME TIME on first row inc 2 sts evenly (do not inc over the first or last 12 sts): 6 sts in garter st, K 2, * P 2, K 2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with 6 sts in garter st = 114 sts. Work 4 cm and then loosely cast off sts with K over K and P over P.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the 6 sts cast off in each side tog with grafting/kitchener stitches.
Place band over each other and sew on 4 buttons for decoration through both layers.

Tatiana 15.12.2017 - 01:03:

I think Rita is right! I think you give us the pattern for straight needles!

DROPS Design 15.12.2017 kl. 08:42:

Dear Tatiana, both patterns are worked back and forth on circular needles. It's a very common way to knit in Norther Europe, but you can here use straight needle if you rather. Happy knitting!

Lampen Rita 13.12.2015 - 16:05:

S. Glaubitz-Hartman 30.05.2015 - 09:50:

Heel leuk
