DROPS double pointed needles size 8 mm – or the needle size needed to obtain correct knitting tension.

Knitting tension: 11 sts x 15 rows stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm
Garter sts (on double pointed needles):
K1 round and P1 round.
Rib: * K1, P3 *, repeat from *-*.
Decreasing tip: Dec 4 sts as follows – knit 5 sts (K1, 1 sts garter st, P1, 1 sts garter sts, K1). Then pass 2nd sts on right needle over 1st sts. Pass 3rd sts over first, then 4th sts and finally 5th sts - 4 sts has now been decreased.

Hat: Remember knitting tension. Knit in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 64 sts on double pointed needles size 8 mm with Eskimo. Knit Rib - see explanation above – until piece measures 7 cm. Continue as follows: * K1, 1 sts garter sts – see explanation above, P1, 1 sts garter st *, repeat from *-*. When piece measures 22 cm dec 16 sts on next round as follows: * dec 4 sts – see Decreasing tip, knit 11 sts like before *, repeat from *-* entire round = 48 sts. When piece measures 25 cm dec16 sts on next row as follows: * dec 4 sts, knit 7 sts like before *, repeat from *-* until round is completed = 32 sts. Now knit sts tog 2 by 2 = 16 sts. Pull thread throught remaining sts, and sew away the ends.
