Does this pattern have to be knitted on a circular needle or would straight needles work just as well?
02.02.2022 - 13:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Vivienne, you can use straight needles, the stitches will just be somewhat more tight; we are using here a circular needle to get enough room for all stitches - read more here. Happy knitting!

Two yarns used for this pattern. Can you just clarify, is each yarn used independently, so each stitch you alternate the yarn, or are they both used together making one stitch ie doubling up the yarns. Uncertain, and 150grms seems a small amount of yarn for the shawl if doubling up the yarn. Thanks janette
12.05.2020 - 14:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Gwillim, you are using both yarns in this pattern, ie you will work with DROPS Delight + DROPS Kid-Silk held together just as if there was only 1. You need here 1 ball each yarn. Remember to check and keep your tension. Happy knitting!

Knitted shawl with garter stitch and picot edge. The piece is worked in DROPS Delight and DROPS Kid-Silk.

SHAWL: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle. Cast on 9 stitches with 1 strand Kid-Silk and 1 strand Delight (= 2 strands) with circular needle size 6 mm. Work as follows: All stitches and yarn overs are knitted (yarn overs are not worked twisted, they will leave holes). ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 3, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 3, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 13 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle stitch. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit until there is 1 stitch left, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 2 stitches increased. ROW 3: Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit as far as the middle stitch, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= middle stitch), 1 yarn over, knit until there is 1 stitch left, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 4 stitches increased. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures approx. 28 cm measured along the middle stitch or to desired length. Loosely cast off with knit from the right side as follows: Knit 1, ((** insert the right needle between the first 2 stitches on the left needle (i.e. between the stitches on the needle, not through the stitches), make 1 yarn over the right needle, pull the yarn over through the stitches and place it on the left needle **, repeat from **-** 2 more times (= 3 new stitches on the left needle). * Knit the first stitch on the left needle, pass the first stitch on the right needle over the last stitch worked *)), repeat from *-* a total of 9 times and repeat from ((-)) along the whole of the edge until there is 1 stitch left, cut the strand and pull it through the last stitch. |
