How to knit an easy textured pattern

Keywords: chart, texture, vest,

Textured pattern can be worked in many different ways using knit and purl stitches, and can be used in several garments to create an exciting effect. You can use it in cloths, jumpers, blankets, jackets and many other things. In this DROPS video we show one way of knitting a textured pattern. In the video we have 2 edge sts in garter st in each side, we knit the chart 3 times and have already knitted 1 report in height.

You must read the pattern and look at the chart to be able to follow this video properly. You’ll find patterns using this technique by clicking on the pictures below.

Thank you for this video on how to read the knitting chart. May I ask why you are always doing two knit stitches at the end and beginning of each row? Are we assuming this is in the full pattern instructions as these are not showing on the chart pictured above? Thank you.

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs Hennig, we are working here with 2 sts in garter st to make the pattern be more visible, but remember to always follow the written pattern. Happy knitting!
