How to knit a half domino square (vertical)

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a half domino square (vertical).
We already picked up stitches along one edge of the domino square and we knit as follows:

Row 1 (WS): k all sts
Row 2 (RS): K until 2 sts remain, K 2 tog.
Repeat 1st and 2nd row, i.e. dec 1 st on square on every other row until 1 st remains.

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a half domino square (horizontal). We already picked up stitches along the edges along one side of the dominos square and the vertical half square below. We also placed 1 marker in the middle st. We now knit as follows: Row 1 (= WS): K all sts. Row 2 (= RS): K until 1 st remains before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K rest of row. Repeat 1st and 2nd row, i.e. dec 2 sts in the middle of the square on every RS row, at the same time slip last st at the end of every row on 1 thread or stitch holder. Continue until 3 or 4 st remain on needle (In this video we have 4 st). Knit next row (= RS) as follows: Slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, slip last st on row on the stitch holder in the side (if you had 4 st remaining). We now have 5 sts on the thread on each side of the middle st. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining middle sts. In this video we slip the stitches back on the needle to show the result of the half square. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. In this DROPS video we show how you can knit a domino square. Make several for your starting row. Then pick up sts along sides of two squares and work another square. Always make sure to slip 1st st on each row, and knit the last one, then you will have a nice edge on the square to pick up sts in afterwards. WS rows: knit if you are working in garter, purl if stockinette. RS rows: knit all sts and work middle 3 sts together to 1 stitch by: slip 1, K2 tog, pass slipped st over. How to work a domino square

In this DROPS video we show how we work a domino square. Cast on 5 stitches and insert 1 marker thread in the middle stitch. Work the domino square as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit as far as the stitch with the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (stitch with marker thread), 1 yarn over, knit to end of row. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 4 (= right side): Knit as far as the stitch with the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (stitch with marker thread), 1 yarn over, knit to end of row. Work ROWS 1-4 onwards until finish measurement. Cast off – but on the cast-off row increase as before in the corner; yarn overs are cast off as you go (this avoids the corners being tight).
