How to fix a loose neck edge

Is your neck too wide or too elastic? Did you know there's an easy way to fix that? In this DROPS video we show how to crochet a band in the back of neck to limit the stretching.

We are using a yarn in contrasting color so it will show better. From inside stick hook through a stitch, pick up yarn and pull through, stick through next stitch, pull through yarn and make slip stitch, repeat this but skip for example every 2nd or 3rd stitch depending on how much tighter you want the neck to become. After last stitch, cut yarn, pull through and fasten ends each side.

Bonjour Marianne, pensez à bien vérifier votre tension, si votre échantillon est juste, vous devriez alors avoir les mêmes mesures que celles du schéma. Vous pouvez aussi utiliser cette technique pour refaire par le haut si besoin. Bon tricot!

Dear Trish, the video shown has a knitted neck edge, so yes, it's applied to knitted items. You simply change to a crochet hook to make the edge less loose. Happy knitting!

Bonjour Mme Dubreuil, si l'encolure est trop petite, il vous faudra probablement la refaire, maintenant, tout va dépendre de la façon dont vous l'avez tricotée: de haut en bas, de bas en haut, etc... N'hésitez pas à demander conseil à votre magasin habituel! Bon tricot!
