How to work a double knitted band with buttonholes

In this DROPS video we show how to work double band with buttonholes. Pick up stitches along right front piece, with a long yarn end to pick up stitches with.
Begin pick up at the bottom of front piece and pick up 1 stitch in every knitted row along the entire front piece or skip every 4-5 stitch, inside 1 edge stitch. Look at your pattern what it says.

Now continue piece at the end of row where ball is (bottom of front piece).
Cast on new stitches for band as an extension of the stitches pick up at the bottom of front piece (cast on stitches from wrong side. We cast on 16 stitches, but it can be different from pattern to pattern). Work band over the 16 stitches at the same time as band is knitted together with stitches picked up along the front piece as follows:

ROW 1 (= right side): Slip first stitch on to right needle purlwise with strand in front of piece, * knit 1, slip 1 stitch on to right needle purlwise with strand in front of piece *, work from *-* until 1 stitch remains of the 16 band stitches, slip last stitch on to right needle knitwise, with strand behind piece, knit next stitch, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked, turn.

ROW 2 (= wrong side): * Slip first/next stitch on to right needle purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 *, work from *-* over all the 16 band stitches, turn.
Repeat rows 1 and 2.

Read in the pattern you are working from when buttonholes should be knitted.
Work buttonhole, begin from right side, as follows:
Work the first 8 stitches as before, turn and work over the 8 stitches as before, work 3 rows in total over the 8 stitches (work last row from right side). Cut the yarn.
Work 4 rows in total as before over the remaining 8 band stitches (work first row from right side) and work last stitch from right side together with next stitch along edge of jacket as before. On last row from wrong side work as before over all band stitches and continue as before over all band stitches.

DROPS Design :

Hola Viviana, la cenefa inferior, de las mangas y la cenefa doble se trabajan con las agujas de 2.5mm, mientras que el resto del patrón se trabaja con la aguja de 3mm.

Hola Viviana, si nos indicas el patrón que estás trabajando podremos indicártelo en más detalle. Generalmente, el tamaño de la aguja de la cenefa es diferente al de la aguja usada para el resto de la labor.

In this DROPS video we show how to work a double neck edge and bands which are used in the «Love Links» jacket in DROPS 217-18. We have already worked 9 cm to the neck edge. On row 1 we show how to cast off 6 stitches (= band), knit over the next stitches and increase at the same time new stitches evenly over these stitches. Work rib over the last 6 stitches + 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. On row 2 we show how to cast off 6 stitches (= band), purl over the next stitches, purl yarn over twisted = no holes. Work 1 edge st in garter st in each side. Then work the yoke, read a pattern for further information about increases, marker and charts. Then knit up stitches along the bands, remember buttonholes. Then sew band to neck edge inside 1 edge stitch with seam in towards wrong side of garment. Fold rib at the top of neck double in towards wrong side of garment. Sew together opening mid front with small stitches. The jacket in DROPS 217-18 is worked in DROPS Merino Extra Fine, but in the video we use a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to work a loose part of a jacket band separately.

In this DROPS video we show how to work a loose part of a jacket band separately, and then sew it on the front piece afterwards. We have already worked the neck in rib with a buttonhole and 5 garter stitches in each side. These band stitches are worked in GARTERS and put on a stitch holder. Cast on a new stitch on each side, which will later be cast off = edge stitch which is worked in garter stitch. Work the back piece in stockinette stitches and increase according to pattern. Then work the loose bands to the correct size before putting them together with the yoke, then also cast off the edge stitches. Remember to cast off for buttonholes. Sew the bands neatly inside the 1 edge stitch on the yoke. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how we work the cheat button flap used on the Mini Me neck warmer in DROPS Children 23-11. We start the video with knitting the last stitches on the round until we shall cast on new stitches and then knit back and forth. Cast on X-number of new stitches at the end of the round, then knit back and forth (follow the pattern). Sew cast on edge on the new sts to the inside of neck warmer. Sew a button on to flap.
