How to cast off with picot

In this DROPS video we show to increase and at the same time cast off to a picot.

We have already worked a rib ((knit 1 twisted/purl 1) and start the video with casting off like this:
Knit 1 twisted, * insert right needle between the first 2 stitches on left needle, make 1 yarn over on right needle, pull yarn over forward between the stitches and slip yarn over on to left needle *, work from *-* 2 times in total, knit and cast off at the same time off 5 stitches (= 1st stitch on right needle + 2 yarn overs+ 2 stitches). Continue to work from *-* and cast off 5 stitches the same way along the entire cast-off edge until there are no stitches left to make a new picot. Cast off the remaining stitches.

In this DROPS video, we show you how to knit a sock with a square heel. The stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows (the heel extends under the foot): 1) The heel is worked back and forth across the heel-stitches to achieve the correct height. For this type of heel, the length reaches midway under the heel. 2) Next, the heel is knitted together beneath the foot. 3) The sock is then continued in the round, with stitches picked up along both sides of the heel length, working towards the toe. 4) This heel creates a square shape, which is why this type of heel is known as a square heel.

In this DROPS video, we show you how to knit a sock with a gusset heel - arguably the most common method for working a heel. To begin, the stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows: 1) The heel is first worked in height, back and forth across the heel-stitches. 2) Next, the bottom of the heel is worked to the required width and length by working short rows and decreasing stitches. 3) Once this step is completed, continue knitting in the round across all stitches, knitting up stitches on both sides of the heel (along the length). 4) The width and shape of the foot is worked by decreasing stitches on both sides, forming a small gusset heel – that is why this type of heel is known as a gusset heel.

In this DROPS video we show a brief overview of how to knit a garment with an European yoke, where the neck is finished after the stitches for the sleeves are knitted up. The garment is worked as follows, according to these 5 steps: 1) BACK PIECE: Cast on stitches for the back of the neckline and work the back piece top down, at the same time as increasing each side until you have reached the correct shoulder-width. The back piece has slightly diagonal shoulders. 2) FRONT PIECE: The front piece is worked in 2 pieces (each side of the neck). Start by knitting up stitches along one shoulder on the back piece. Work the front piece top down, at the same time as increasing for the neckline. Repeat for the second front piece along the other back shoulder. 3) YOKE: On the next row, place all stitches on the same circular needle as follows: Work across one front piece, pick up stitches for the sleeve along the side of the front piece, work across the back piece, pick up stitches for the sleeve along the side of the second front piece, work across the second front piece. The yoke is continued back and forth across all stitches, with the rows starting and ending mid-front. 4) INCREASE FOR NECK, BODY AND SLEEVES: While working the yoke, begin by increasing only for the neckline and sleeves, then subsequently for both the body and sleeves. Once the final increase for the neckline is done, the 2 front pieces are joined mid-front and the piece is continued in the round. 5) BODY AND SLEEVES: When all the increases are finished and the yoke has been worked to the correct length, it is divided for the body and sleeves. The body is continued in the round with a circular needle, top down, while the sleeves wait.
