50-50-100 g colour 36, amethyst

KNITTING TENSION:
13 stitches in width and 17 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
11 stitches in width with Fisherman’s rib = 10 cm.

NEEDLES:
DROPS NEEDLE SIZE 6 MM.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
Knit all rows.
1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows.

RIB:
ROW 1 (= wrong side): Work 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, * purl 1 , knit 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left on row, purl 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch.

ROW 2 (= right side): 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1*, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left on row, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 onwards.

FISHERMAN’S RIB (back and forth):
ROW 1 (= wrong side): 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * purl 1, knit 1 in stitch under next stitch *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left on row, purl 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch.

ROW 2 (= right side): 1 edge stitch in garter stitch , * knit 1 in stitch under next stitch, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left on row, knit 1 in stitch under next stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch.

Repeat ROWS 1 and 2 onwards.

START THE PIECE HERE:

HEAD BAND – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth and sewn together mid back to finish.

HEAD BAND:
Cast on 11-13-15 stitches with needle size 6 mm and Eskimo.
Work RIB – see description above, until the piece measures approx. 6-6-6 cm; adjust so the next row is from the wrong side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
Work FISHERMAN’S RIB – read description above, until the piece measures approx. 43-45-47 cm from the cast-on edge; adjust so the next row is from the wrong side.
Work rib until the piece measures 49-51-53 cm. Cast off and leave a strand-end of approx. 20 cm before cutting; pull it through the last stitch.

ASSEMBLY:
Hold the piece so that the cast-on and cast-off edges are lying against each other, edge to edge. Use the strand-end and sew stitch to stitch so the seam is flat. Cut and fasten strand.
